Update from Head of School

Dear ISB Community,

Please find a few updates below.

Extended Parent Campus Access

After a successful start to school, we are now pleased to extend the hours that parents can be on campus. As of Monday, the 28th of September, parents may come on campus without an appointment after 12:00pm.

Please be reminded:

  • Masks must be worn properly at all times and in all areas of the school
  • Physical distancing of 1 – 2m between non-family members should be adhered to at all times
  • There are hand sanitizer dispensers across campus for your regular use
  • You will need your ID badge to enter campus
  • You will need to have completed the self-disclosure form
  • Do not enter campus if you are feeling unwell, have a fever over 37.5, or have any flu-like symptoms
  • Students have priority in the MS/HS Cafeteria. In the event that students are on lunch or recess, parents should not sit in the cafeteria, order food, etc.
  • Starting Monday, parents of Elementary School students will be able to enter campus through the turnstiles at the Elementary School entrance. For students, the dismissal pick-up procedures will remain the same, including the designated KG and G1 meeting points for after-school activities.

We feel very fortunate to have our entire community back on campus again. In order to ensure the campus and our community remain safe, it is important we all continue to work together to adhere to these regulations. Thank you for your ongoing cooperation.

Winter Break Travel

ISB does not recommend that parents/families travel overseas this winter (December/ January) break, given the challenges with securing return flights and quarantine requirements. It is likely these requirements will still be in place at that time.

Please note that ISB does not intend to offer virtual learning in January. Any absent students will be supported in ways similar to when they are away from class for a normal absence (e.g., for illness).

Calendar for 2021/22

We are surveying community members to help inform our calendar setting for the next school year. We are also exploring possible changes for this year’s calendar with a view to providing a longer summer break in the hope that travel becomes easier for everyone.

Please click here to access a survey seeking your input and take a few moments to share your family priorities and your thoughts. Any changes to the 20-21 calendar will require strong community support and BOT approval.

Government Announcement of Holidays for Nov. and Dec.

You may have read that the government has approved two long weekend holidays for November 19-22 and December 10-13. Because ISB gave our community the Songkran holiday last spring (spread across the last months of school) and to maintain continuity of learning for our students, we will be running school on November 19 & 20 and December 10 & 11.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us at any time.

Kind regards,

Andy
