‘Nearly There’

Dear Parents,

As I mentioned in last weeks’ E News, we are inching closer to the end of the school year and the opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge our students (and teachers) hard work, persistence, and flexibility in this current environment. The challenges of conducting ‘school’ which has a huge social aspect, online in a virtual setting are well known to us all but our students have been fantastic in their approach, attendance, and involvement over the last 11 weeks. Finishing school will also prove to be a challenge, particularly if our campus remains closed through June 12th, but I have huge confidence in our Admin team, counselors, and teachers that we will finish the academic year with positivity and optimism for the future.

As the situation regarding school openings is quite fluid, we do have two plans in place for the structure of the last week of school.  Parents have received communications outlining when High School students would be permitted to come onto campus if government approval is given. In short, Grade 9-11 students could attend school on Wednesday, June 10th (A-L), and Thursday, June 11th (M-Z). We would also make arrangements for our Seniors to come on campus during that week as well. Virtual school (including planned end of unit/semester assessments) would continue as planned right through until Tuesday, June 9th before students return to campus on June 10th or 11th.

If we do not receive government approval to open campus, we will continue with virtual school right through June 12th, following the assessment calendar already published to students and close with a virtual assembly on June 12th. Once we know more from the relevant government authorities we will explain in more detail what the last week of school will look like. In the meantime stay safe, stay well and enjoy the weekend

All College Counseling Site: Virtual Visits, SAT Testing, Screencasts, etc.

The move to virtual learning and college counseling has increased the number of emails we all get. This means that people tend to miss important information because of email overload. In an effort to help ease this, the College Office has created a site that we hope will serve as a “One-Stop-Shop” for important college-related information. There you will find information about SAT testing, some of the screencasts we have done this semester about various aspects of the college process, and a list of virtual/online university info sessions and tours. This list is a living document that we will be updating as we get information about virtual visit opportunities from colleges and universities around the world.

Please bookmark this site and check it frequently for updates!

Dear Parents,

As we enter the last weeks of school in these uncertain times, stress and anxiety levels are high for both students and parents.  Please reach out to your child’s counselor if you have concerns about how they are feeling or encourage them to reach out to an adult that they trust.  We all have to work together even as our circumstances improve and we learn how to adjust to a “new normal”.  Be well.

Here’s a link to the “no-host” version of Legs 4 Legs 2020 outside of Zoom; it’s about 50 minutes (so it’s a big file – 15 Gig). The donations information is included. We’re still accepting donations throughout the weekend, May 30th! So, please share this AMAZING array of dancing and help raise awareness and support for the Thai Prostheses Foundation of HRH the Princess Mother.

Scheduling of our virtual summer school classes is almost complete. In the same email, it will also state which classes still have space available and steps to follow if you’d like to join one of those.

Purpose of the ISB Virtual Summer School Program:

To provide students with supplemental academic learning and/or enrichment opportunities, and to provide some opportunities to explore areas of interest through a variety of virtual “camps”.

Please enjoy MS student works expressing their ideas and perspectives in collage, print, paint, and pencil. These artists engaged in the creative process to bring their ideas to life!
