‘Together at home’

Dear Parents,

This week we were able to host a number of webinars and meetings for our students outside of their ‘regular’ classes. Tuesday after the long weekend saw our student council elections take place for students currently in Grades 9-11. I was very impressed with the quality of candidates and their ‘campaign speeches’ that they shared in those webinars with their peers. We look forward to finding out the results of the elections early next week and then announcing the new student council leaders for the 2020/21 academic year. Congratulations to all students who ran for these leadership positions.

In addition to the elections we also held a webinar for Grade 9 and 10 students on Thursday morning where we shared information about what students need to do and indeed can do for CAS at this time. We also shared some preliminary information about the planned assessment calendar for the remainder of the school year and answered questions from our Freshman and Sophomores. Wednesday was a webinar for our Senior students where we shared details and information about their end of year and the upcoming virtual graduation.

In the coming weeks we are continuing to search for meaningful and real ways to keep our students and community connected during these unusual and unsettling times. One way to celebrate our communities talents is through the upcoming ISB Together at Home concert being hosted on Thursday May 14th at 4pm with special guest appearances by Dr Davies and one of the ISB Panther Mascots.

Have a great weekend

Regards
Justin Alexander
HS Principal

The counselors have been thinking a lot about those of you who are leaving at the end of this school year:  If at any time, you or your child need to speak with someone about your transition process, please feel free to contact your student’s counselor.  The counselors have made a screencast about the transition process in these unique and strange times.  It is at this link if you’d like to have a listen.

Whether you are leaving, staying, or unsure about the future, these are difficult and uncertain times for everyone.  If you notice changes in your childrens’ mood, behavior, or energy levels, and you are concerned, don’t hesitate to contact your child’s counselor.  We are always available and ready to help in any way that we can to assist your student in navigating this final month of the school year, and beyond.

A reminder that because the number of seats available is limited, it is recommended that you complete and submit the online registration form as soon as possible by the end of this weekend.

We will begin next week scheduling classes and student placements will be assigned based on the order registrations were received with each individual class only being scheduled if there is sufficient enrollment. New students joining ISB in August will be able to participate only if there are seats available; the exception to this is the Virtual MS/HS EAL Summer Courses which are open to both present EAL students and new EAL students joining ISB in August.

Please register your child for virtual summer school as the grade level they are presently in now during the 2019-20 school year.

Purpose of the ISB Virtual Summer School Program:

  • Opens – Monday, June 22
  • Closes – Friday, July 3
  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 12:00 pm Bangkok time

Please read carefully the more specific information provided about each program and special interest camp tentatively being offered and for the registration procedures, by visiting the Summer School webpage on the ISB website.
