ES ‘Out of Uniform Day—February 6 and 7, 2020
These two days are ‘Out of Uniform’ days in the Elementary School. On PE days, students need to wear their PE uniforms. On their non-PE day, students may choose to not wear their ISB uniform.
Appropriate dress guidelines for our ‘Out of Uniform’ days are:
- Pants/slacks/shorts—good condition
- Shirts/blouses—sleeves & midriff required, appropriate logos only
- Skirts/dresses/jumpers—sleeves required, modest length
- Shoes—sneakers, street shoes or leather sandals with back strap
- Hats must be worn all the time when playing outside during recess or during PE classes
Makha Bucha Day Substitute Holiday – No school for students on Feb 10
Monday, February 10 is Makha Bucha Day (Substitute). It is a Professional Day for teachers. No school for students on this day. Classes will resume on Tuesday, February 11th. It will be a ‘C’ day.
February Parent Engage: Digital Citizenship in the Elementary School
What is digital citizenship? How might you engage in Seesaw at home in ways that empower your children? What are some practical ways your children can interact with technology that encourages creativity and innovative learning?
This workshop will be hosted by a group of teacher leaders who have recently been trained in the ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) standards. There will be opportunities for dialogue, and you will leave with practical tips for home.

ES Report Cards
Trimester 2 Report Cards will be ready to view or download through Powerschool on Friday, February 21 at 2pm. In Trimester 2, the ES report card measures learning in all areas. There are no comments given in Trimester 2. The report card in Trimester 3 will contain both measures and comments from teachers.
You will need your log-in details for Powerschool to access your child’s report card. If you experience difficulty, or you cannot remember your log-in details, please contact our Ed Tech department at help@isb.ac.th.
Upcoming Student-Led Conferences – March 5 and 6
Our annual Student-Led conferences are coming up on March 5 and 6. More information will come to you when we are closer to this date, but as a head’s up for new parents, there is no school on these dates for ES students. However, students will be involved in their conference time on one of the two dates.
ES Explore (ES After School Activities)
Dear Parents,
Confirmations of ES Explore placement will be sent to you by email. You can also login to Powerschool and then you’ll be able to see the confirmed activities and the location. Payment online will be available by Tuesday, February 4th until Friday, February 7th. If you wish to pay in cash at the Community and Activities Office, please submit the payment by Friday, February 7th at 3:00pm.
The following are some important dates for you to note in your calendar:

Grade 5 Book Sale
We’re back!! We hope with the new decade and New Year resolutions and just plain cleaning, you might find some great books that are sitting around your house and want to give them to a worthy cause!
The Grade 5 Book Sale: Thursday and Friday, May 7th and May 8th.
We will start collecting:
- FICTION books for younger and older readers
- NONFICTION books (anything still relevant)
- ANY books for younger readers!
- Magazines and comics
The box will be found in front of the ES Office/Hub. Please donate! All of the proceeds go to Mercy Centre in Klong Toey.

Purchase a Friendship-gram Bookmark in advance. Pre-sales are Friday, 31st January and Friday, 7th February. Pop on by to get yours at the PTA lounge for 30 Baht. Write your message on the Friendship-gram Bookmark and give it to that someone special. On Friday, 14th February let them know to bring their bookmark to the popcorn stall and they will receive a Popcorn and a Sparkling Surprise!

Students in grades 3, 5, 7 and 10 will take the annual ISA assessment on February 3 and 4. The International School Assessment is designed to offer comparable assessment data for students in international schools. The ISA assesses students in the three domains of Mathematical Literacy, Reading and Writing.

(Repeat) Get your tickets! “Little Red: A Multicultural Fairytale”
Take note of the ticket sales dates for this one-of-a-kind musical production! This famous story will be told from the perspective of three different cultures, based on the storybooks “Lon Po Po” (China), “Pretty Salma” (Ghana), and “Petite Rouge” (Cajun/Louisiana). The entire fifth grade will bring this tale to life through movement and music that they have created themselves, as well as through music and dance from each culture. In addition, the set and an exhibition in the foyer will feature grade 5 student artwork that they’ve created in conjunction with the show. There will be two showings: Tuesday, February 18th, AND Wednesday, February 19th, at 6:30 p.m. both days. Ticket prices are 250 THB/adult and 150 THB/child or student. Tickets will be sold in front of Chevron Theatre.

Any elementary school student on campus outside of regular school hours, who is not participating in a school-sponsored event, must be actively supervised by an adult in charge, appointed by the family. This includes being in the elementary Learning Hub (library).
