2020 ISA Testing
On February 3 and 4, all Grade 7 students will take the International Schools Assessment (ISA) in Mathematical Literacy, Reading, and Writing. The assessments will take place between 7:20 and 10:30 on the morning of both days.
ISB conducts external standardized testing periodically in order to review or programs and compare ourselves to like-minded schools, evaluate the effectiveness of our curriculum, and monitor student progress and trends across the school. At ISB, the ISA is administered in grades 3, 5, 7 and 10.
You can access the ISA Privacy Statement here.
Grade 8 Trip to Chiang Mai approaching
Our annual grade 8 trip to Chiang Mai fast approaches! During the week of February 3-8, the entire grade 8 class, accompanied by middle school teachers, counselors and administrators, will take the overnight train to Chiang Mai to engage in activities, be in the outdoors, and get to know our host country, Thailand.
For grade 6 & 7 students, school will carry on as usual during this time, however some teachers may be away and covered by substitutes, as part of this trip.
Grade 8 parents have been kept informed of the details of this trip, but if for any reason you feel you have missed information, please contact the MS Office early next week.
MS Students participate in Hour of Code
Before the Winter Break, Middle Schoolers joined over 100 million students around the world and took part in The Hour of Code 13-17 December. Students dedicated their lunchtime to complete the challenge, often collaborating with each other to create using various coding websites.
Here’s what students had to say, when asked why they chose to participate in The Hour of Code:
“I participated because coding is fun. You get to create characters and a whole world if you want to.”
“I chose to participate because it gave me the opportunity to code with my friends and to collaborate with them in projects.”
“I did it because coding is fun and girls don’t code often.”
Early Dismissal on January 28
Please note that Tuesday, January 28th is an Early Dismissal day. Students will be dismissed from school at 1:10 PM.
Teachers will be collaborating on schoolwide initiatives during this time dedicated to professional development.
