 2020 ISA Testing

ISB conducts external standardized testing periodically in order to review or programs and compare ourselves to like-minded schools, evaluate the effectiveness of our curriculum, and monitor student progress and trends across the school.

In February, our students in grades 3, 5, 7, and 10 will be taking the International Schools Assessment (ISA) in Mathematical Literacy, Reading, and Writing.  You will receive more information from your child’s division administration about specific dates and times.

ISB is seeking language specialists for Korean, Japanese and Mandarin

ISB is seeking language specialists for Korean, Japanese, and Mandarin to be part of the ISB elementary school program. This is a new initiative that will help support learners to develop their native languages, deepen concepts, and support students’ social-emotional identities.

Native language is an area identified on our ISB Strategic Learning Plan and an area that we are working hard to grow in our elementary.

Our aim is to hire full time language specialists who will support students throughout the day by teaching native language classes during world language blocks, and also doing push-in to identified homerooms to support learners.  We will be working with our Native Language Committee to develop the programs and will be sharing more with our community as the program is developed.

Please note that these positions will be local hire contracts, compensated with a unique fee structure.  The job description is attached. If you are interested in applying for the position, please go to our website (https://www.isb.ac.th/job-opportunities/) to submit an online application.  Only applications received through our online platform will be reviewed.   If you have any questions, please contact Debi Caskey, Deputy Head of School for Learning (debic@isb.ac.th).

ISB Health Clinic: Information about novel coronavirus

ISB is committed to the Health and Safety of its community.

We understand there could be discussions about the novel coronavirus that has been reported in Wuhan and other parts of China.

We continue to monitor the spread of the novel coronavirus, risk assess prior to our trips, and work closely with International SOS, who update us daily.

Symptoms

Symptoms of the novel coronavirus are similar to influenza and respiratory tract infections and include fever, fatigue, sore throat, dry cough, and breathing difficulty as the disease progresses.

More Information

Please find attached an announcement from OSAC with further information about preventive measures, travel advice and the virus itself.

We would like to remind parents not to send their child to school if they are unwell and to seek medical attention.

Given our highly mobile community, it is always good practice to report your travel history to your doctor and to review the travel advice for the areas you are traveling to.

IASAS Boys Tennis at ISB – We need your help hosting!

Due to the ongoing activity of theTaal Volcano in the Philippines, IASAS Tennis has been moved from ISM. Singapore American School will now host the IASAS girls championship, and ISB have readily agreed to host the IASAS boys competition. We are very excited to welcome IASAS tennis back to campus, and with IASAS swimming already on our schedule, ISB will be absolutely rocking at the end of January.

Please help us by volunteering to host visiting tennis players during the IASAS weekend. We desperately need to find twenty host families to welcome these visiting student-athletes into their homes. ISB is renowned for the hospitality and gracious welcome we extend visitors, and our IASAS family is now depending on our community to step up due to this unexpected natural disaster.

IASAS BOYS TENNIS – SIGN UP TO HOST

The tennis schedule will be shared next week. Mark your calendars for January 30-February 1, 2020, at ISB. You won’t want to miss the gritty performances, the hard-hitting action, or the fun and excitement of IASAS Boys Tennis 2020! Go Panthers!
