‘The middle or the end?’
Justin Alexander
justina@isb.ac.th

Dear Parents,

On Thursday we celebrated the end of the school year for one of our Senior students as she graduated from ISB at our Mid Year graduation. This event has been in place for a number of years at ISB to support a small number of our students who have met graduation requirements early and are looking to begin their higher education in countries that may have a different start time. For that particular student, it certainly is the end of the year and the end of her school year, but for everyone else, December is the ‘middle’ of the academic year.

As we prepare for our last assembly it is great to be able to take a moment and reflect back on a fantastic first half of the year. Our students have had wonderful opportunities to experience growth, challenge and of course hopefully success during this time both inside and outside of the classroom. Our students (your children) and the teachers all deserve a break and a chance to take a breath and spend time with family and friends.

I wish you and your family a safe and relaxing holiday break whether you are traveling or staying here in wonderful Thailand.

See you after the middle/end of the year.

Regards
Justin Alexander
High School Principal

Report Card Holds
Andy Vaughan; Justyna McMillan
andyv@isb.ac.thjustynam@isb.ac.th

Please note that parents will be unable to access report cards through Powerschool if a report card hold has been placed on a student account.  Report card holds occur if books are outstanding at the Library, fees are overdue or textbooks not returned.  If a report card hold has occurred, parents will be notified via an automated email from Powerschool.

To avoid report card holds please encourage your child(ren) to return all library books, and any textbooks used solely in semester 1.

PowerSchool Access and Report Cards
Justyna McMillan
justynam@isb.ac.th

PowerSchool access will return for parents and students on Friday December 20th in the afternoon.

Student Report Cards will include Semester Grades and HAL grades, but no comments. As ISB continues to be ‘greener’ and timely we issue report cards through the PowerSchool Quick Lookup page. On the Quicklook Up page use the link at the top right to access a PDF report card for your son/daughter. The report can be saved and filed electronically and or printed.

If there is a ‘report card hold’ in place, please resolve the issue with the appropriate department and then take the paperwork to the HS Office where the necessary changes can be made in Powerschool.

Extended Essay Class of 2021
Matt Kelley
matthewk@isb.ac.th

The EE for the Class of 2021 is well underway. Students were introduced to the EE in early October. Since then we have had an EE Fair, an Upskilling Workshop, mini-online homeworks, Subject Specific Seminars, all-group meetings, subject sign-ups, supervisor allocations and informal check-in’s with supervisors. Now we turn our attention to the January Official Meeting.

All EE students should arrange to have a 20-30 mins EE meeting with their supervisor; this is to take place within the month of January. Students should have their Research Proposal ready –  allowing them to take a lead in the meeting (published via google classroom). A short reflection is due soon after this meeting and counts towards the final grade.

Much more information, as well as resources, tips and an invaluable timeline can be found at ee.isb.ac.th. If students or parents have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me,

Kind regards
Matt Kelly
