Middle School Parent Conferences Oct 3 & 4

Next week, on Thursday and Friday, October 3 & 4, Middle School hosts parent-teacher (and student) conferences. Students do not have school on these days, but we encourage them to join you for conferences, so that they may hear the same feedback you hear about areas of strength and areas for growth. Students do NOT have to wear school uniform.

Hopefully, by now, you have signed up for your 2 hour session in the arena format with all the teachers and other parents. If you have not, sign ups remain open until Tuesday of next week.

We limit the number of parents per grade in any sessions to help ensure that you can reach all teachers in the designated time. It is important that you arrive at the start of your session, so that you have the full time to see all of your child’s teachers. That said, please do not arrive and start seeing teachers prior to your session starting, as the teachers need a short break after talking for 2 hours straight and before starting the next 2 hours. We ask that conversations with individual teachers last no more than 5 minutes. If you need longer, or you need more privacy, please schedule a separate appointment for a different day. This venue is for check-in conferences with all the teachers.

To make the process more smooth, we ask that you look at PowerSchool grades on Tuesday evening, when they will be most up to date, before coming to conferences. Then your time talking with teachers will be about strengths and what your child can work on, rather than about what grade(s) they are getting.

We look forward to seeing you at conferences and engaging with you about your child’s learning progress.

High School Student Tutoring for MS students

This year, the high school Peer Tutoring Club will once again be offering free private tutoring sessions to any middle school students who need help with any particular classes. This includes a wide range of subjects, including, but not limited to, Math, Language, Science, Writing and Social Studies.

Any students who are interested should contact their counselors. Counselors will then pair the student with a high school tutor based on what they need help in and when they are available.

MS Principal Forum: Call for Middle School Questions and Concerns

by Middle School Coordinators Kelly Kabat and Ferda Seyhan

The first MS Principal Forum will take place Tuesday, November 5 at 9:00-10:30 am in MPB 3. This is an opportunity to voice your questions, comments, suggestions or concerns for Mr. Harter and the middle school administration to respond to them.

We are currently accepting written comments, questions and concerns that will be summarized and put forward to the middle school administration. MS parents who would like to submit comments should email them to mscoord@isb.ac.th before Monday, October 14, 2019. They will then be summarized and presented to the administration for response on November 5.

All comments are welcome, however comments not specifically related to middle school may be forwarded to the appropriate department and/or discussed in the PTA board meeting. All questions and comments will be anonymous in the report. Please contact us directly if you have any questions regarding the Principal Forum or the process for submitting input.

We look forward to seeing you November 5 at the Principal Forum!
