Message from the Health Centre

It’s rainy season and illnesses such as influenza, mycoplasma, strep throat (can lead to scarlet fever), chickenpox, hand foot and mouth disease, and herpangina are common in young children.

Please notify the Health Centre by emailing nurse@isb.ac.th of confirmed cases so we can give you the appropriate advice as many of the above are contagious and a doctors certificate is required before your child can return to school.

In order to reduce the spread of infection please keep your child at home if they have any of the following symptoms;

  • fever of 38.0 degrees celsius and above
  • persistent sneezing and runny nose which is not allergy related
  • persistent cough
  • unexplained rash
  • nausea and vomiting
  • diarrhoea

Students should not return to school unless they have been symptom free for 48 hours without the use of medication, are tolerating fluids and diet, and have the energy to remain in school.

Please remember to monitor the health of siblings.  Thorough handwashing is the most effective method of reducing the spread of infection and vaccination against influenza is recommended as it is now prevalent throughout the year.

Thank you for working with us to keep our community safe and well.
