This year on September 27th, in alignment with our mission, we will be hosting a fun run at ISB, in support of the worldwide 2 Billion Kilometres to Safety campaign. This worldwide event aims to raise awareness about the plight of refugees, raise funds for families seeking refuge, and most importantly, creates the opportunity for the public to stand in solidarity with them. Each year refugee families travel 2 billion km in order to reach safety, and by coming out and supporting this cause, it will help emphasize how strongly we as a community value being globally-minded and caring citizens. Join us at 6:00pm – 6:30pm on the track and join us from 3:30pm – 7:30pm in the ES Auxi where the UNHCR club will be setting up multiple booths advocating for this cause. Setting up fun carnival games intended to be inclusive towards kids and adults of all ages.
Why we started UNHCR
My name is Pleng Kruesopon, a Sophomore student here at ISB. Last year, my friends and I decided to initiate this club called the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees a chapter of the UNHCR organization. Our club’s mission is to create lasting solutions for refugee lives through education and long term connections while inspiring students to become future refugee advocates by working with the UNHCR.
