ES e-News for September 12, 2019

No School for Students Tomorrow Friday Sept. 13 – ISB Holiday
Friday September 13 is an ISB holiday.  Classes will resume on Monday Sept. 16th, 2019.  It will be an ‘F’ day.

Climate Action for Peace Assembly – September 18, 2019
With International Day of Peace falling on a weekend this year we will be holding our annual ISB Peace Day Assembly on Wednesday, September 18 instead of September 21. Through the mediums of dance, music, film, drama, visual art, and storytelling this year’s PK-12 gathering, Climate Action for Peace, will promote sustainability, conservation, and renewable energy, celebrating how all environmentally-friendly practices, no matter how big or small, can make a huge difference in our world.

Due to limited space in Rajendra Hall this event is for students only, however photos and a video of the assembly will be available to all ISB parents the following week. Please spread the word that Wednesday, September 18 is a day for all divisions with students, staff, and faculty to wear white to celebrate our unity as a learning community and our solidarity with others celebrating Peace Day around the world, and don’t forget to practice the sign-language and singing for this year’s ISB Community Song, Back to the Earth!!!

“I’m going back to the earth. I’m going back to the earth. I’m going back to work. I’m going back to the earth.”

Climate Awareness
To show our awareness for “climate action needed,” students may wear GREEN on Friday, Sept 20.  Students in PK-12 will be in green to promote the awareness for the need to take action for our climate.  Dress Code Policy should be followed for any “out of uniform” day.

Spirit Week Dress Up Days
Our PreK – 12 Spirit Week is coming up September 23 – 27!  The varsity council has worked hard and chosen themes that are simple and appropriate for students PK-12.  ES students may participate on all days; however, please support children to keep it simple. They are expected to be dressed so they are able to participate in movement for their PE learning.

Monday, September 23 – Pajama Day
Tuesday, September 24 – Songkran Shirt Day
Wednesday, September 25 – Mismatch Day
Thursday, September 26 – Sports Jersey Day
Friday, September 27 – Black & Gold Day

Room Parents still needed for a few rooms!
Thank you to those who signed up to be room parents this year. We are still looking for a few more classrooms to be represented. Typically, room parents coordinate and inform about class celebrations by email, organize end of the year gifts, and assist the teachers in sending out information to parents when needed. They will also occasionally help out in the classroom when required, or facilitate communication on events across a whole grade. Our teachers already have support from lots of amazing IAs and specialist teachers – room parents are generally required to assist with the fun stuff!

The following teachers need a room parent. If your child is in that class and you would like to assist, please email escoord@isb.ac.th

Kinder: Whitman
Grade 1: Barness
Grade 2: Giles & Young
Grade 3: Bowyer
Grade 5: Davis

ES Explore (ES After School Activities)
This Semester’s ES Explore program will begin on Monday, September 16th
