‘Sports and Service’
Justin Alexander
justina@isb.ac.th
Dear Parents,
Thank you to our teachers and students who have made the commitment to organise and lead one of the more than 60 Clubs that take place in the High School. All HS students attended the Club fairs this past Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to learn about the interesting, fun and meaningful clubs and activities that take place at ISB. The rich service and interest focused clubs provide many different opportunities for our students and I encourage you to chat with your children to see what they signed up for.
Ms. Hansberry and her team have worked tirelessly to organise the club fairs and to support the student leaders as they get their clubs underway this year. If you visit our ISB Highschool Instagram page you will see some great photos from the Club fair.
Along with our many service clubs, we also have a large number of Athletic (sporting) teams taking the field and courts for season one. Football, Volleyball and Cross Country are all boasting strong numbers and the first games of the season take place Friday afternoon at 3.30pm for our Boys and Girls Volleyball teams. Come on down and support the Panthers.
Save the date:
- HS PTA meeting Thursday September 5th 9.30-11.00am (MPB2/3)
- HS Open House Wednesday September 11th start at 6pm (Chevron)
We will share more details in next week’s ENews – please add these to your calendars.
Regards
Justin Alexander

Senior Gate Passes
Andy Vaughan
andyv@isb.ac.th
Seniors who are able to apply for a Senior Gate Pass will be able to submit forms from Monday 26. Passes will be issued in the order they are received. These are awarded to Seniors who are in good academic and behavioral standing and maybe revoked if students do not maintain this standard. Students with poor attendance or excessive MSH attendance in G11 will not be given a Senior Gate Pass until acceptable attendance is demonstrated by October break.
Please note that in all cases where students are off campus during the day, parents assume responsibility for their child and as such, these students are not covered by the school’s insurance as they are unsupervised by the school.
Schedule Changes
Justyna McMillan
justynam@isb.ac.th
Thank you for your patience and flexibility during the first 8 days of school as we have worked to balance schedules through providing students with their choices and keeping class sizes at the best level for learning. Today, Friday Aug. 23 was the last day for student requested schedule changes. Please note, schedule changes may still occur up to week 5 of the Semester (Sep. 13th) if recommended by the Student Support Team or the Classroom teacher believes the student is in the wrong level (eg. HL to SL, Spanish III to Spanish II). This change does not appear on the student transcript. Up till the 10th week (Oct. 18), if there is a schedule change due to the above situations, the change can occur, but the original course will be placed on the student transcript with a Withdraw Pass (WP) or Withdraw Fail (WF) dependent on the student grade at that point. Beyond this period there can be no schedule changes.
This is all clearly explained in the Student Handbook on page 59-60.

We hope your family’s transition back to school is going well and that as the year progresses and your student/s begin to juggle school and activities, they can find balance between both.
Have a conversation with your child and make sure:
a) they have a good idea of their teachers’ expectations.
b) they have a plan to be organized in managing their time and assignments.
c) they know how to relax after a long school day/week.
d) they are getting in the habit of getting a reasonable night’s sleep.
Over the course of this semester, we will meet with your student individually to check in and continue to get to know them better.
We hope Grade 9 students are finding the transition to high school a positive one. They are always welcome to stop by our office with anything from academic to personal concerns. Last week, Mrs. Hansberry visited the Grade 9 Health classes to explain the different types of service opportunities and service hour requirements for personal growth and for graduation. It’s a big transition to high school and we are here to help students any way we can.
Today, Friday the 23rd, is the last day for normal schedule changes, so your students’ schedules are set for the semester, and hopefully the year. As always, your students are welcome to chat with us any time about their schedules – or anything else!

Free2Flow Dance Showcase 2:45 and 3:30, Wednesday, August 28 CC Dance Studio
We have had the pleasure to work after school a select few students. We invite you to an open showing, to conclude our time here performing and teaching at ISB. The after school showing is a demonstration of the creative process experienced by the students. This involves learning free2flow repertoire, creating variations of our work, and delving into a new work co-created by both the students and the collective dancers. Come and view our creative process at 2:45 and 3:30 in the HS Dance Studio, Floor 2 of the CC Building!
About Free2Flow
Free2Flow is a co-created, internationally based dance collective of five dancers and one visual artist. Each member is artistically unique and carries with them a particular movement specification and styles, making the Free2Flow team an extremely versatile collective of artists. As we are all working around the world, we seek possibilities to meet in culturally unique locations and create our work. Collaboration with international and local schools.
