Welcome from the PTA

On behalf of the ISB PTA, welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!  We have a few upcoming activities to help you settle in, meet new people and learn more about our parent community. We hope you can stop by and meet our board members and Community Representatives and learn how the PTA supports ISB. In the coming weeks, you can find us:

  • Mingling over coffee or lunch with us at the Middle School and High School New Student Orientation on Friday, August 9th (please note this event is for newly enrolled families only)

  • Celebrating the first day of school at our Welcome Back Coffee on Tuesday, August 13th at 7:30am in the MPB.

  • Supporting the Booster Club at the Pancake Breakfast/CAO fair on Saturday, August 17th – 8:00 to 11:00 am in the Main Cafeteria.

In case you cannot make it to our events, we encourage you to reach out to your Community Representatives who act as ambassadors for their respective communities. They are grouped by country, common language or region depending on the size of the community. The current list is attached.

If we do not have a Community Representative for you and you are willing to lead one, please let us know. ISB does a tremendous job of bringing our international community together and highlighting our unique traditions and cultures. Activities such as Intercultural Day and the International Family Fair would not be possible without these outstanding volunteers.

If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please reach out directly to either myself or the other board members whose contact information is attached.

New Vehicle Sticker and ID Application form

Every two years, ISB requires renewal of all vehicle access stickersincluding golf carts and scooters. We also require family helpers (Mae Bahn, driver, nanny, etc) to update their access cards yearly.  This allows us to manage who is coming on campus as well as keeps our community safe.

This year, the application process is on-line. Please see link below. This will allow everyone to upload the documents from their devices, and no longer requires multiple paper copies. Please read the directions carefully.

All vehicle applications will be processed as they come in on a first come, first serve basis.
Please allow 3 business day to pick up the car sticker. New stickers will be available to pick up at the ES gym until August 9th.  Then, beginning Aug 13th, they will be in the quiet room of the  HS/MS Library.

ID cards will also be processed the same way, but applicants will need to come in and have an updated photo taken.  This can be done at the same locations as the car sticker pick up.

After-School Native Languages – Do you know what’s on offer?

Beginning in September, we will be offering two sessions each week for each language listed below (for which there is adequate demand):

  • Danish
  • Dutch
  • French
  • German
  • Hebrew
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Mandarin
  • Spanish

For Pre-Kindergarten, Thai and Mandarin will be on offer once a week.

The Native Language Academy runs after-school allowing for flexibility in class sizes, intentional groupings across age and language needs, and schedule setting. We also have native languages offered within the school day, with classes every second day in Elementary School (Thai) and Middle School and High School (French, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and Thai). After-school classes are not a replacement for Native Language classes offered in school.

A native/near native language is generally described as a language that is used on a daily basis with at least one parent. This is fundamental to ensure that the language can be supported outside of the classroom. We believe that native language learning happens best when students experience a strong home-school partnership.

The schedule of classes will be shared as registrations are received and confirmed. To register or to inquire about native language support for your children, in any of the languages above or a language not listed, please email: nativelanguage@isb.ac.th
