Maker Space – Thank You For Your Donations!

Thank you to everyone who has donated materials to help our space for making come alive!  The creativity, adaptability, and self-managing that we have seen in students has been impressive.  We will continue accepting donations until June 6th.

Quotes from some of our Grade 3 students who helped in our Maker Space opening:

“When I went to the Maker Space I was so surprised because the KG’s and first graders used words that 6th graders use and their communication was excellent!” -Mina

“It was kind of interesting seeing things that people made up and how they worked together.” -Katie

“I felt like it was going to be a mess but they were kind, sweet and creative!” -Aili

We look forward to many future opportunities for all ES students. Should you have any questions or ideas about donations, please contact:  Nate Bailey – nateb@isb.ac.th

(Repeat) “Cheer and Cheer Basics” – Are you interested?
If you are interested to join, please fill in this google form.

If the class is popular and we have a minimum of 10 students ready to register next semester, will consider the possibility of officially launching this activity one evening per week through the CAO from 18h45 to 19h45.

See below a brief description of this activity and some photos here.  Intro to Cheer and Cheer Basics: Interested in what cheerleading is all about? Come learn all the basic fundamentals of cheer; jumps, stunts, tumbling, motion technique, and some basic cheers/chants. All skills will be taught and mastered on a progression scale where safety is at the forefront of everything taught. Students will work with coaches to learn body control and coordination necessary for competitive and sideline cheerleading. The student will learn new and fun skills as an individual like tumbling and jumps but also learn teamwork, trust and cooperation with partner and “4 man” stunts. This is a multi-leveled class for boys and girls in grades KG-12.

(Repeat) ES PE Swimming 2019
The second session of PE swimming will begin on March 29, 2019. Please see schedule below:

Third Session: May 8 – June 6
Grade 5: Armitage(Dolphins), Burnett
Grade 4: Merritt, Crimi
Grade 3: Bailey(Wolves), Macky
Grade 2: Giles
Grade 1: Allen, Zammuto
KG: Brickerd, Pool

Students will be participating in a swimming and water safety unit as part of the Elementary Physical Education (PE) Program.  This unit is designed to promote knowledge and skills in the areas of personal water safety, fundamental strokes, and simple water rescues.  There will be three swimming specialists along with Corry Day, ISB’s Aquatics Director, assisting the PE teacher with the swimming unit. We will also have a lifeguard on deck during every class.

The program is designed to help meet the needs of all of the students, and is based on the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program.  Students will be screened and placed in a level that is developmentally appropriate based upon his or her current swimming ability.

What to bring to PE:
Swimsuit, towel, and goggles clearly marked with the student’s name to every PE lesson.  Girls are requested to wear a one-piece swimsuit. UV (rash) protective shirts are permitted, but rash shirts need to be properly fitted, as loose rash shirts inhibit swimming efficiency.  Should a student forget to bring a swimsuit, towel, or goggles, a loaner will be provided to the student for the day and this will need to be returned at the end of class.

Students with long hair need to wear a swim cap or tie their hair back for each lesson. We encourage students to bring their own sunscreen if they so desire.

Because students will have an alternate PE lesson should the weather prevent them from swimming, they need to come in their normal PE attire to each lesson including athletic shoes and socks. Students may bring crocs or sandals in their swim bag should they choose to wear them after swimming class.

Swimming is a part of the ISB PE curriculum and full participation is expected.  Any student who is unable to participate in class must inform the PE teacher in writing or via e-mail.  If no notification is received prior to their PE class, they will be expected to participate.

If you or your child have any questions about the swimming unit please do not hesitate to contact your child’s PE teacher.

(Repeat) Is Your Child Interested in Attending a Summer Camp?
As part of our ISB Summer School Program, we have a number of different camps available to students. Back again this year are our popular Panther Musical Theater and Robotics camps. New camp offerings this year are our:

(Repeat) If You Know you are Leaving ISB
Families who are leaving ISB at the end of the school year are asked to inform the school as soon as possible using the official Notice of Withdrawal Form.  This helps us prepare school records for your child and with planning for next year.  Completed forms can be dropped off at the ES Office.

(Repeat) After School Supervision
Any elementary school student on campus outside of regular school hours, who is not participating in a school sponsored event, must be actively supervised by an adult in charge, appointed by the family. This includes being in the elementary Learning Hub (library).
