(Repeat) Summer Learning Parent Engage
A big thank you to all of the parents who came out to our Summer Learning Parent Engage this past Thursday.  A number of teachers were able to join us to share ideas and tools to support learning in a fun and meaningful way over the upcoming vacation.  We wish you a fun and rich vacation!

Here is a link to the slides that were presented.
Here is a link to the hand-out that was shared.

(Repeat) The ES Music Shares are Back!
At the end of the year, the ES Music Department will be hosting a “Music Share,” a time for students to bring in music, drama, or dance performances to share with an audience of parents and their peers. Students are invited to perform a 2-3 minute piece that they have prepared outside of music to share with their class. Parents are welcome to join us for this event, which will be held in music room 4-115.  The schedule and sign-up form for this year’s Music Share can be found here.

(Repeat) Costumes Coordinator Needed for Next Year’s Grade 5 Production

Do you have creative flair and an eye for fashion? The ES Music Department is looking for a costume designer/coordinator for next year’s Grade 5 Musical Production. If you are interested, please contact Angela Wong (angelaw@isb.ac.th) or Matt Enders (matte@isb.ac.th) for more information.

(Repeat) Materials for ES Maker Space

Help us set up our own ES Maker Space!  It will be a place for students to create and make.  We are looking for the following items to be donated from our community.  Please ensure any donations are clean and ready for use! Drop them off in the wooden donation box outside the ES HUB.

  • Fabric/thread/yarn
  • Cardboard (tubes, boxes, etc.)
  • Egg cartons
  • Plastic bottles (no milk/yogurt cartons)
  • Interesting paper/newspaper
  • Craft items (pom poms, buttons, beads, etc.)

(Repeat) ES PE Swimming 2019
The second session of PE swimming will begin on March 29, 2019. Please see schedule below:

Third Session: May 8 – June 6
Grade 5: Armitage(Dolphins), Burnett
Grade 4: Merritt, Crimi
Grade 3: Bailey(Wolves), Macky
Grade 2: Giles
Grade 1: Allen, Zammuto
KG: Brickerd, Pool

Students will be participating in a swimming and water safety unit as part of the Elementary Physical Education (PE) Program.  This unit is designed to promote knowledge and skills in the areas of personal water safety, fundamental strokes, and simple water rescues.  There will be three swimming specialists along with Corry Day, ISB’s Aquatics Director, assisting the PE teacher with the swimming unit. We will also have a lifeguard on deck during every class.

The program is designed to help meet the needs of all of the students, and is based on the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program.  Students will be screened and placed in a level that is developmentally appropriate based upon his or her current swimming ability.

What to bring to PE:
Swimsuit, towel, and goggles clearly marked with the student’s name to every PE lesson.  Girls are requested to wear a one-piece swimsuit. UV (rash) protective shirts are permitted, but rash shirts need to be properly fitted, as loose rash shirts inhibit swimming efficiency.  Should a student forget to bring a swimsuit, towel, or goggles, a loaner will be provided to the student for the day and this will need to be returned at the end of class.

Students with long hair need to wear a swim cap or tie their hair back for each lesson. We encourage students to bring their own sunscreen if they so desire.

Because students will have an alternate PE lesson should the weather prevent them from swimming, they need to come in their normal PE attire to each lesson including athletic shoes and socks. Students may bring crocs or sandals in their swim bag should they choose to wear them after swimming class.

Swimming is a part of the ISB PE curriculum and full participation is expected.  Any student who is unable to participate in class must inform the PE teacher in writing or via e-mail.  If no notification is received prior to their PE class, they will be expected to participate.

If you or your child have any questions about the swimming unit please do not hesitate to contact your child’s PE teacher.
