Helmets

With only a few weeks left of school, I wanted to inform parents of a recent message that was sent out to all High School students about the wearing of helmets to and from school when riding bikes. Can you please remind your High School students that they are also role models to younger students and that they should be setting a good example for younger students with regards to safety and helmet use.

‘Helmet when riding bikes (or scooters): Please be reminded that all students riding a bike to school must wear a properly attached helmet. We have received reports of students arriving at school on bikes without helmets and rushing past guards and MS and ES teachers to park their bikes and rushing off. If you are stopped by an ISB security guard (or anyone for that matter) and asked to put your helmet on, please do so. If you do not have a helmet then please do not bring your bike to school. You will be asked to return home to get a helmet. Students disobeying guards etc will face consequences.

A worldwide study in 2016 revealed wearing a cycle helmet reduces the risk of serious head injury by almost 70% and fatal head injury by 65%  Click https://www.headway.org.uk/get-involved/campaigns/cycle-safety/ to read more.

Wear your helmet.
