If you are stopped by an ISB security guard (or anyone for that matter) and asked to put your helmet on, please do so. If you do not have a helmet then please do not bring your bike to school. We’ve covered a wide range of topics this year in our monthly Coffee series – from higher education systems around the world to what the College Counseling Office does each day, from standardized testing to how universities make admissions decisions. For this last Coffee, we are doing something a little bit different: instead of a more formal presentation by the college counselors, we are hosting on open forum for you, our ISB Parents.

Our hope is that you will come to this final Coffee of the year with any questions, comments, concerns, or ideas you would like the college counselors to answer or hear. Our goal is to share as much information with you as possible about any remaining topics you are interested in, and to get direct feedback from you on what you think is going well at ISB with respect to college and university counseling, and what maybe isn’t going so well. We’ll also provide attendees with a “Year in Review” summary of university admissions for the ISB Class of 2019.

We hope to see you all on Tuesday!

High School Counseling News

Jackie Valenzuela
jackiev@isb.ac.th

On Tuesday, Grades 9 and 10 students watched the documentary “Angst: Raising Awareness Around Anxiety” that was shown to parents in April. Anxiety is an emotion characterized by feelings of worry, fear, nervousness and apprehension. Every student experiences some level of anxiety as a part of life. Anxiety becomes a problem when it disrupts their day to day life and prevents them from doing things they used to enjoy. Angst was created to help break the stigma related to anxiety and open up the conversation around mental health. It features kids, adolescents, experts and researchers. On Thursday, during Advisory, students and Advisors engaged in a follow up conversation around the documentary.

Grades 11 and 12 students will also have an opportunity to see the film soon.

Jackie Valenzuela
High School Counselor

Is your child interested in attending a Summer Camp?

Maurilio Baron-Toaldo

maurilib@isb.ac.th

As part of our ISB Summer School Program, we have a number of different camps available to students. The Photo Studio will be open at 8:00am – 12:00pm in the morning session and after the ceremony until 6:00pm in the evening session on the graduation day. We usually have less people in the morning. Your child hasn’t gotten the diploma and Phung Malai yet before the ceremony? No worries! We will have them ready as props. Please click on http://bit.ly/isbgradphoto to check more details and register your interest. You are welcome to walk-in on the day, but registering your interest will help the photo taking process be smooth and fast. Thank you for your cooperation!

Personal Photographer

A photo of your child in their gown and cap with their diploma in hand, with Phuang Malai hanging from their neck is certainly important on this big day. But there are plenty of good photo opportunities before and after the ceremony: photos that are more candid and tell a story. Your personal photographer will follow you and capture your special moments all day (9:30am – 6:00pm). You can also share a photographer with a friend (limited to 2 families per photographer).
