This week we hosted our MS Principal’s Forum. Notes and slides are shared below.

Thank you to the MS PTA coordinators and the parent committee that collected and shared the questions. More follow up information will be provided on the topics once they are known.

 

ISB Strings Bash 2018

On November 29th, over 120 string musicians from 3rd-12th grade will join together for the annual Strings Bash. This event is a wonderful display of commitment, community, and musicianship. Come out to see the ES, MS, and HS String Orchestras under the direction of Adrianna Gricius, on Thursday, November 29th at 6:30pm in the Culture Center Theater. Free Admission.

 

ISB Novel Writing Challenge Coming Soon 

Are you itching to get started on that BIG novel you have always wanted to write and wondering what happened to NaNoWriMo?
Wonder no more.

After considering student and parent feedback, we made the brave decision to re-brand NaNoWriMo and create our own writing challenge here at ISB.

Over the next few weeks we will be finalizing our new website ready to launch ISBNWC (International School Bangkok Novel Writing Challenge). We are partnering with the PTA to bring you a much more user friendly version.

We will be launching in January, ready for the BIG write in February.

HOST NEEDED FOR IASAS IASAS vs. APCA SWIM EXCHANGE

We need your help! ISB is hosting the second ever IASAS vs. APAC Swim Exchange next weekend, Nov. 16-17. This is an electric event featuring the top swimmers from international schools across Asia. 

Friday night delivers a spirited team relay competition, as league schools are combined to follow a dual meet format. 

If you are able to host TWO or more swimmers from our visiting IASAS schools, please sign up to host below. We can’t run these phenomenal events without our community support, and ISB is known for pour great hospitality. Sign up. join us, and be a part of this amazing event, next weekend at ISB.

PTA Parent Workshop – Introduction to Mindful Practices at ISB 

Perhaps you’ve heard about mindful practices or mindfulness on social media, or perhaps your child has had some experience in the classroom with mindful practices – but you’re not quite sure what it’s all about!  Come join us for a brief parent workshop to learn more about mindful practices in education, and explore the skill of mindful parenting. Parents will have the opportunity to try mindful practices themselves, understand the research behind mindful practices in schools, and explore further opportunities to take mindfulness courses offered in the community.

Repeat Announcement: HS FALL MUSICAL – ‘ANYTHING GOES!’ 

Set in the 1930s, Anything Goes takes place aboard the passenger ship the SS American, following the fortunes of Billy Crocker – a stock broker who has stowed away to be with his love – the debutante Hope Harcourt. The only problem is – she’s engaged to the wealthy Lord Evelyn Oakleigh! Fast-paced, fun, and filled with upbeat dance numbers and memorable songs – Anything Goes is a fantastic show for all the family! *Note: contains mild adult humour. (Reno and Hope will be played by Imogen Alexander and Leah Scranton on Thursday 22nd and the Saturday matinee, and by Jacelia Breedlove and Jenni Lochridge on Friday 23rd and the Saturday 5:30 performance.) Tickets are available online NOW at: https://www.ticketmelon.com/isb/anythinggoes2018  Cash sales are available between 10am-12:00pm in the cafeteria pit from Monday 5th November.

Repeat Announcement: PLEASE DONATE: Plastic Waste Items

Shortly, our Grade 6 Art students will be working with recyclable plastics to create sculptures. Over the next 2-3 weeks we would appreciate any donations of your empty plastic containers, bottles and packaging. In fact anything made from plastic that you think might be of interest to us. Please drop off your washed items to the MS/HS Art Quad recycling receptacle, which will be in place as of next week.

Student-Athletes can just show up for the first practice and register with their coach.

U13 Soccer (Grade 6-7) 

Practices times: Monday & Wednesday 2:40-3:40, Thursday 3:40-5:00

Tryouts on Wednesday 7, Thursday 8 November and Monday 12 November

B teams will practice on Tuesday 2:35-3:40  and Friday 2:35-4:25

 

U15 Soccer (Grade 8-9) 

Practices times: Monday  3:40-5:00 Wednesday & Thursday 2:40-3:40

Tryouts on Wednesday 7, Thursday 8 November and Monday 12 November

 

U13 (Grade 6-7) & U15 (Grade 8-9)  Badminton

Practice times: Monday, Wednesday & Thursday 2:40-3:40
