BBSA – Baseball and softball registration will close at 4:00pm on Friday, November 2nd
Quick reminder if you have not yet registered your child.

Bangkok Baseball Softball Association (BBSA) has organized baseball/softball play for the past 58 years in Bangkok. There are leagues for boys and girls ages 4 yrs – 18 yrs.  Please note registration is open from now until November 2nd. Current fees per player are THB 3,600. Registration fees will increase to THB 4,100 on November 3rd (if there is space in our program) so be sure to register before that date.

You can make your payment at the Community Activity Office (CAO) or pay by Thai bank wire transfer.  Cash, credit cards and Thai baht checks are accepted for payment at the CAO office. The CAO Office is open Monday – Friday, 7:00AM to 11:00AM and 12:00PM to 3:00PM.

Player assessment will be held on Sunday November 4th at the ISB fields.  All players are strongly encouraged to attend their assessment sessions to allow the coaches to create fair and balanced teams.   See the attached assessment schedule.

Opening Day for baseball/softball is on Saturday, Nov 17th.  All games are played on Friday evenings and Saturdays at ISB.  Games will continue every weekend until the league championships the weekend of February 22nd/23rd.  There will be no games during the winter break at ISB but we will continue play on Saturday, January 5th 2019.  The game schedule will be published approximately one week before the season begins.

Practices will begin the week of Nov 5th.   All teams will practice once per week during the season as a weekly practice is important to skills development and to learn the fundamentals of teamwork, etc.  We have arranged a downtown Bangkok location for an optional Sunday practice at NIST. Parents will have to pay THB 1,000 for the season for this practice because NIST charges for field usage.

On the registration form you will also have an opportunity to volunteer to be a coach, assistant coach or team parent.  Please consider helpng out with your child’s team in some way. The kids really love having their parents helping out with their team and you will have a great time.  No previous baseball experience is necessary.

BBSA has purchased a limited number of fielding gloves for players who need them.  These will be sold on our assessment day.

Please go to www.isb.ac.th/community-baseball for more information and the registration link.  Please visit our Facebook page at facebook.com/groups/217724271623929/.  If you have any questions, please contact Phil Walther at info@bangkokbaseball.org

(Updated) Leaving ISB at the End of the First Semester?
Parents of students who are not returning to ISB after Semester 1 need to notify the ES Office, K. Tina (tinaratr@isb.ac.th) as soon as possible and fill out the
Notice of Withdrawal from ISB Form to enable us to process school records for their next school.  Good-Bye groups for students will start the last week of November. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

(Repeat) Intercultural Day – Friday, November 16
Intercultural Day is a ‘hands-on’ learning day to celebrate ISB’s rich intercultural diversity. Many of our ES classrooms are ‘transformed’ by parents into country themed rooms so that our students can celebrate different cultures, food, dress, language, music, and geography throughout the day.

A few details for parents:

  • Students are invited to wear t-shirts representing various cultures instead of their uniform or P.E. uniform in the week leading up to Intercultural Day.
  • On Intercultural Day (16th) students are welcome to dress in a way that represents a culture important to them.

Intercultural Day begins with an Assembly. Parents are welcome to join the Assembly, as we are gathering in Rajendra Hall. Parents will need to be seated by 7:45AM SHARP – so that the Assembly can begin on time.

(Repeat) Parent and Toddler social at Bangkok Funarium – additional places available
PTA Welcome Wai  would like to invite  ISB parents with toddlers to a very special downtown event. On Thursday 8th November we will be sponsoring a trip to Bangkok Funarium. This event will provide ISB parents and their toddlers with an opportunity to come together, network and play in an environment which ensures lots of fun for the smallest members of the family. There is no charge for this excursion – buses, entrance tickets and refreshments will be provided by the PTA and ISB.  Please note that places are limited to 30 toddlers and an accompanying parent.

by Corry Day
contact: corryd@isb.ac.th

Dear Parents,

Panther Swim Team taking over Learn to Swim program (Super Jr. Panther Squads):
What does this means to ISB swimmers? It means that from now on, all swimmers from the very beginner levels will no longer have to go somewhere else to prepare themselves for the Panther Swim Team. Our Panther Swim Team coaches will run the program and work with the High School instructors as their assistants.

We will be accepting new “Super Jr. Panthers” after the October break, so you do not have to wait until January to join the swim team!

Sign up at the CAO or online at the old Learn to Swim link.
