ISB All School eNews-Black & Gold Ball

ISB PTA Black and Gold Ball!

Your ISB PTA is very excited to announce the return of the ISB Black & Gold Ball! This event, held at the 5-star Renaissance Hotel Bangkok, will be an evening event that will include a delicious 4 course dinner, entertainment, and an opportunity for parents, staff, and alumni to socialize and raise money for 2 wonderful causes.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

I am a creator more than an artist. Everything around me is my inspiration. Bits, pieces, snippets, sounds, and feel all contribute as triggers, reactions, ideas, and results. My work comes as a product of where I am and what is at hand at the moment. Changing gears is a constant. I continually work on different types, formats and styles at the same time. Traveling around the world, taking the small roads, and seeking something new is the best source for my mind. Standing still or only making one kind of art is not an option.

This month-long residency has been generously sponsored by the ISB PTA.

ISB Health Clinic: Nut Free School

Just a reminder to all families that ISB has a “No Nuts” policy. We have several students who have severe allergic reactions to nuts and this can be from just touching an area which has had nuts on it. Without treatment these reactions may be fatal!

We ask all parents and visitors to the school to ensure that there are no nuts brought onto campus or on field trips.

Thank you for your cooperation!

BBSA – Baseball and softball registration will open on October 1st for the 2018-19 season

BBSA – Baseball and softball registration will open on October 1st for the 2018-19 season

Bangkok Baseball Softball Association (BBSA) has organized baseball/softball play for the past 58 years in Bangkok. There are leagues for boys and girls ages 4 yrs – 18 yrs.

Registration is open from October 1st until November 3rd.  We must register players now so we have time to hold player assessments, form teams and order player uniforms before play begins.

Current fees per player are THB 3,600.  Registration fees will increase to THB 4,100 on November 3rd so be sure to register before that date.

You can make your payment at the Community Activity Office (CAO) or pay by Thai bank wire transfer.  Cash, credit cards and Thai baht checks are accepted for payment at the CAO office.  The CAO Office is open Monday – Friday, 7:00AM to 11:00AM and 12:00PM to 3:00PM.

Player assessment will be held on Sunday November 4th at the ISB fields.  All players are strongly encouraged to attend their assessment sessions to allow the coaches to create fair and balanced teams. See the attached assessment schedule.

Opening Day for Baseball/ Softball is on Saturday, Nov 17th.

All games are played on Friday evenings and Saturdays at ISB. Games will continue every weekend until the league championships the weekend of February 22nd/23rd  There will be no games during the winter break at ISB but we will continue play on Saturday, January 5th 2019.  The game schedule will be published once we know how many players are registered.

Practices will begin the week of Nov 5th.

All teams will practice once per week during the season as a weekly practice is important to skills development and to learn the fundamentals of teamwork, etc.  We have arranged an optional Sunday practice at NIST.  Parents will have to pay THB 1,000 for the season for this practice because NIST charges for field usage.

On the registration form you will also have an opportunity to volunteer to be a coach, assistant coach or team parent.

Please consider helping out with your child’s team in some way.  The kids really love having their parents helping out with their team and you will have a great time.  No previous baseball experience is necessary.

BBSA has purchased a limited number of fielding gloves for players who need them.  These will be sold on our assessment day.

Please go to www.isb.ac.th/community-baseball for more information and the register link and please visit our Facebook page.
