ES eNews for October 5, 2018

Education is a shared commitment between passionate teachers, engaged students, and dedicated parents – all with high expectations.

We hope you enjoyed meeting with teachers over the last two days, and found the experience informative and meaningful. We look forward to continuing this year’s learning journey with your child(ren) in the weeks and months ahead.  Thank you for your partnership – it is important to your child, and makes a significant difference to their learning!

No School on Monday October 15
Monday October 15 is His Majesty The Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej Memorial Day. There is no school. Classes resume on Tuesday October 16. It will be an ‘E’ Day.

ES Parent Engage – Thursday October 11th at 7:45 am in the ESMPR
There is always so much happening in the Elementary School.  How to keep up? Attend our monthly Parent Engage sessions!

This month, we will open with a session on Exploring Our New ISB Learner Attributes.  We will highlight each one, so that participants leave with a better understanding of what they are all about. The second part of the meeting will focus on Intercultural Day preparation and a PTA update.  Come join us!

ES Explore (ES After School Activities)
All activities are well underway. Most of ES Explore have already hosted their 3rd session so there are no longer any changes permitted.

Regards,
Livnat Ziskinder

Calling all artists!  Intercultural Day Logo needed
This year, we would like to call upon our talented ISB artists to create a new Intercultural Day logo.

This is open to any Elementary School ISB artist. All artwork must be original and should say “Intercultural Day” somewhere on the logo. All logos must fit on a 15 cm by 10.5 cm piece of paper. Students can get a piece of drawing paper cut to this size from their classroom teacher. All submissions must be submitted to the ES Office by Friday, October 19th by 2pm. Please make sure that the artist’s name, grade, and class has been clearly written on the back.

The Intercultural Day teacher committee will chose one logo for this year. We will celebrate all artwork that is submitted on a bulletin board for Intercultural Week in November.

ARTIST STATEMENT:
I am a creator more than an artist. Everything around me is my inspiration. Bits, pieces, snippets, sounds, and feel all contribute as triggers, reactions, ideas, and results. My work comes as a product of where I am and what is at hand at the moment. Changing gears is a constant. I continually work on different types, formats and styles at the same time. Traveling around the world, taking the small roads, and seeking something new is the best source for my mind. Standing still or only making one kind of art is not an option.

This month-long residency has been generously sponsored by the ISB PTA.

by Corry Day
contact: corryd@isb.ac.th

Dear Parents,
Panther Swim Team taking over Learn to Swim program (Super Jr. Panther Squads):

What does this means to ISB swimmers? It means that from now on, all swimmers from the very beginner levels will no longer have to go somewhere else to prepare themselves for the Panther Swim Team. Our Panther Swim Team coaches will run the program and work with the High School instructors as their assistants.

We will be accepting new “Super Jr. Panthers” after the October break, so you do not have to wait until January to join the swim team!

Sign up at the CAO or online at the old Learn to Swim link.
