Today we had a PK-12 assembly to recognize International Peace Day and to celebrate our ISB community helping others. It was entirely student led, featuring dance, music, stories of care, reading a shared book, and lots of community singing! Please ask your children about it!
No School Thursday/Friday
Tomorrow (Thursday) is a professional learning day – there is no school for students. Friday is a holiday. Classes will resume on Monday Sept. 24th, 2018. It will be an ‘D’ day.
ES Parent/Teacher Conferences – October 4 and 5
We are looking forward to sharing your child’s learning progress in our upcoming Parent/Teacher conferences. For grades 2-5 only, students are encouraged to attend the conference with you. Our purposes for conferences are the following:
- Communicate learning growth
- Enhance home-school connection
- Provide ways to promote home learning
- Build understanding around what learning looks like at ISB
Keep in mind that this structure is not a student-led conference; rather a chance for teachers, parents, and students to informally discuss how learning has progressed in the first several weeks of school. Students in grades PK-1 will not be involved in the Parent/Teacher conference. All students are welcome to attend the Book Fair in the ES library HUB and the ESMPR where supervision will be provided.
Please be reminded that there is no school for students on these days.
Pick A Time, our conference scheduler, will open on Tuesday, September 25 at 8:00 AM and will close Tuesday, October 2 at 2:00 PM. (Updated)
The information letter explaining how to use Pick A Time can accessed via PowerSchool beginning on Wednesday, September 19 at 3:00 PM. Once you have logged on to PowerSchool click on the “Parent Conference” button on the left to see the letter. If you have more than one child in the ES you will need to switch between students to access a letter specific to your child’s grade.
Should you wish to speak with any of our counselors — Matthew Johnson (Pre-K, K, School Psychologist), Kate Kersey (Gr. 1, 2 & Gr. 3, except Bailey/Goodison) or Doug Williamson (Gr. 3 Bailey/Goodison, 4-5), they will be available for appointments on Thursday, October 4 only. The counselors will be attending a workshop off-campus on Friday, October 5th.
