May 25th, 2018 ‘Graduation’
Justin Alexander
justina@isb.ac.th

Dear Parents,

What a wonderful week we have enjoyed with our Senior students (the Class of 2018). The Student Senior council put together a wonderful Senior Appreciation day on Tuesday afternoon and although the rains came tumbling down, nothing could dampen the spirits of our Seniors as they came together to celebrate their last few days at school. A huge bouncy castle and impromptu dodgeball and football games ensured that the class that plays together stays together.

Congratulations were in order for a number of our Seniors at the Awards night on Wednesday evening who received a variety of individual awards in their subject areas and in the areas of Athletics, Arts, and Activities. On Thursday, Senior students proudly paraded through the school past adoring Elementary and Middle school students waving flags and posters of congratulations for the ‘big kids’ at ISB on the way to their Graduation rehearsal in the Rajendra. It was truly a memorable experience for our Seniors and the rest of the school. I look forward to seeing these photos on the ISB facebook page soon, but in the meantime here are two photos for you – Photo 1 and Photo 2

Rehearsals on Friday will hopefully go well so that the actual Graduation on Saturday at 2 pm runs smoothly. For family and friends who wish to watch the Graduation ceremony from the comfort of their own home, you can do so via a Livestream channel that we have set up for the Graduation. Please click on

https://youtu.be/LwcCqCKSiqk and you can follow the action live!

Have a great week and congratulations once again to our Seniors and to their parents for their undying support and commitment to ISB over many years.

All the best to the CLASS of 2018
Regards
Justin Alexander
High School Principal

Upcoming June Exams
Susan Canobie
susanca@isb.ac.th

All students should have received their individual exam schedules through Powerschool (they appear at the top left of the main lookup screen).  If you have not seen it, please log on to Powerschool and ask your son or daughter.

  • June 2018 exams run from Thursday 31st May to Wednesday 6th JuneWednesday is a grading and makeup day, so students only need to be at ISB if they are taking an exam.
  • There are 3 exam sessions each day which have 7:20, 10:00 and 1:00 start times, except for students with accommodations, who have separate schedules.  Students should arrive at their exam venues 15 minutes early.  Students will not be permitted to leave an exam early.
  • Students are expected to bring pens, pencils, rulers, erasers, ISB ID card, calculator (if required) and a clear water bottle to each exam.
  • Students who do not have an exam on a day may stay at home to study or use our Library for private study.
  • Students can leave school early after an exam by completing an exam early departure form (below) or hard copies can be obtained from the HS Office.  Students will need to have a parent-signed, completed form for each instance they wish to leave campus.
  • Students are expected to take each exam as scheduled.  Students who are sick for an exam must contact the HS office immediately.  Medical certificates MUST be provided.
  • Thursday 7th June and Friday 8th June are exam feedback days where normal attendance is expected.  Teachers will look at group and individual feedback, review mark schemes and success criteria, look at exemplary answers and develop future goals.  School will still finish at 11:30am on Friday following the HS end of year assembly.

Leavers Clearance Forms
Susan Canobie
susanca@isb.ac.th

All students who will be moving on from ISB next year need to complete a Leavers Clearance Form prior to the end of the semester.  Without completion of this form transcripts and other important documents cannot be released.  Students can collect these Clearance forms from their Counselor.

Powerschool from 21st May until 8th June
Susan Canobie
susanca@isb.ac.th

In order to finalise examination grades and end of semester reports, students and parents will not be able to see these sections on Powerschool between Monday 21st May and Friday 9th June.  All other features in Powerschool will still be available – including final exam schedules etc.

COLLEGE COUNSELING
Jennifer Melton
jenniferm@isb.ac.th

Congratulations to our Seniors as they are about to become alumni!

Grade 12: Final Transcripts and IB Results Service for Universities
All Seniors should have notified the counseling office of where final transcripts need to be sent (Canada, US, Hong Kong, etc.). Students should have also already notified the IB Office (see Khun Arintra’s email to students) about where IB scores should be sent in July.

Grade 12: Applicants to Australia, India, Korea, Japan
Grade 12 students still applying to university should communicate regularly and early with their college counselor on their applications to universities in these countries. A reminder that all documents needed for university applications must be requested through a transcript request form (found in the counseling office) at least 3 weeks before the university deadline.

Grade 11: Important Reminders
Seminars and essay writing sessions are now finished for the year. This is a time for students to focus on their end of year exams.

All students, with the help of their college counselor, should now have a thoughtful plan for their summer. Students and parents are always welcome to reach out to counselors in these final weeks as they finalize their summer plans.

Grade 10: Communication from College Counselors
After a successful Grade 10 College Night last week, families should plan to receive an email with some important communication that is forthcoming about testing, Naviance, college consultants, and some other important details.

News from School Counselors:
Jackie Valenzuela
jackiev@isb.ac.th

Students have received their list of classes for next school year. Please check with your child and make sure that they have a schedule that suits their needs. If you have any questions, please ask your child’s counselor.

Final exams begin next Thursday, May 31.  Teachers are available to meet with students after school if they have questions prior to exams beginning.  Plenty of rest, healthy eating, and brain breaks will help, too.
