Dear Parents,

Apologies for the email glitch last week which resulted in the late delivery of the HS ENews. Hopefully this week’s delivery will be more efficient and this message lands in your inbox on Friday afternoon. This week’s Enews contains information and tips about the upcoming Exams and some other details about the Grade 9 and 10 Dance on Saturday May 12th and the Prom on Saturday May 19th.

Have a wonderful weekend
Regards
Justin Alexander

Please complete the ISB Uniform Survey
Shelley Bragg, Director of Marketing, Communications and Alumni
shelleyb@isb.ac.th

We are currently reviewing the ISB school uniforms. The purpose of the review is to determine if we can improve the fabrics used, the style and fit of each item and to bring consistency of uniform policy across all school divisions. We are running a short survey and we will also be conducting focus groups, for those that are interested in providing more feedback. Your input is incredibly valuable in this process and we ask that you please take a few moments to complete this quick survey.

 2018/19 HS Courses
Susan Canobie
susanca@isb.ac.th

As we prepare for the upcoming academic year the courses that students have been scheduled for will be uploaded onto Powerschool today.  Please note that changes are still possible for up to the beginning of the next academic year.  Students who wish to discuss changes in their courses should see their counselor prior to 4th June.

June Examinations
Susan Canobie
susanca@isb.ac.th

All students should have received their individual exam schedules through Powerschool (they appear at the top left of the main lookup screen).  If you have not seen it, please log on to Powerschool and ask your son or daughter.

  • June 2018 exams run from Thursday 31st May to Wednesday 6th June.  Wednesday June 6th is a grading and makeup day.
  • There are 3 exam sessions each day which have 7:20, 10:00 and 1:00 start times, except for students with accommodations, who have separate schedules.  Students should arrive at their exam venues 15 minutes early.  Students will only be permitted to leave an exam early after 90 minutes.
  • Students are expected to bring pens, pencils, rulers, erasers, ISB ID card, calculator (if required) and a clear water bottle to each exam.
  • Students who do not have an exam on a day may stay at home to study or use our Library for private study.
  • Students can leave school early after an exam by completing an exam early departure form (attached).  This form is attached to this notice and will be posted on the Parent and Student Portals or hard copies can be obtained from the HS Office.  Students will need to have a parent-signed, completed form for each instance they wish to leave campus.
  • Students are expected to take each exam as scheduled.  Students who are sick for an exam must contact the HS office immediately.  Medical certificates MUST be provided.
  • Thursday 7th June and Friday 8th June are exam feedback days where normal attendance is expected.  Teachers will look at group and individual feedback, review mark schemes and success criteria, look at exemplary answers and develop future goals.  School will still finish at 11:30am on Friday following the HS end of year assembly.

College Counseling Parent Coffee

On Monday, May 7 the ISB College Counseling Department hosted the final Parent Coffee of the year. The topic was higher education in Australia, Canada, and the Netherlands. The presentation is Linked Here.

Grade 12: Final Transcripts and IB Results Service for Universities

  1. All grade 12 students who need their IB scores sent to a university should have completed a form sent via their ISB student email account by the IB Office (Khun Arintra and Ms. Canobie). ISB cannot send IB scores to universities as these can only be sent by the IBO. If a student does not complete the form for the IBO Results Service, then they will have to wait until IB results are released in July and will then need to log on to their own account and send the scores to the university themselves. An email was sent in March to Seniors and again this week with directions.
  2. Many universities will also require a final transcript. All grade 12 students need to complete the graduation survey in Naviance AND complete the clearance form given to them the week of April 9. This is due no later than May 22. The survey and clearance form will guarantee that transcripts will be sent by the end of May/first of June to the university they plan to attend.

Grade 12: Applicants to Australia, India, Korea, Japan

Grade 12 students still applying to university should communicate regularly and early with their college counselor on their applications to universities in these countries. A reminder that all documents needed for university applications must be requested through a transcript request form (found in the counseling office) at least 3 weeks before the university deadline.
