‘Colorful’
Justin Alexander
justina@isb.ac.th

Dear Parents,

Apologies that this Enews is only just arriving in your inbox. There was a technical issue which meant that no emails were sent last Friday, which is now resolved.

Thank you to the 20 or so parents that joined us at the last HS PTA meeting for the year on Monday evening where we heard presentations about College Counselling, the Flipped classroom and Virtual Reality at ISB. The presentation from Monday’s PTA meeting can be found at this  link and those who  want to watch the video from this session please refer  to the  files found here. For parents who would like to know more about what a ‘flipped classroom’ looks like it is well worth the time to view the video presentation.

Congratulations to our Artists and Art teachers for the fantastic ‘Color Now’ exhibition which opened last night at the Bangkok Arts and Cultural Centre. The color thematic approach to the installation featuring works from ISB students from PreK through Gr 12 is inspiring and visually exciting. Having ISB students work exhibited in a public gallery and on display takes considerable time and effort, but the end result was certainly worth it. The exhibition remains open until May 13th and is really worth a visit to see the excellent and varied work by our students.

Have a great weekend
Regards,
Justin Alexander
High School Principal

 GCW Feedback from Parents
Andy Vaughan
andyv@isb.ac.th

We are undergoing a review of GCW and are asking for input from parents, students faculty as well as some of the providers we work with closely. To help us in this process we ask that you take a few minutes to complete a short survey found at this link.

We are also asking that any parents interested in joining the GCW parent review committee email Andy Vaughan directly (andyv@isb.ac.th), to express your interest in joining this group. We will meet twice this semester and once again next semester to seek deeper feedback as we continue to improve this program.

COLLEGE COUNSELING

andreww@isb.ac.th

Grade 10: College Night

Yesterday, the ISB HS College Counseling department hosted a session for grade 10 parents and students.  See the Grade 10 College Night presentation linked here.

Grades 9-12: Final College Counseling Parent Coffee

This Monday, May 7 the ISB College Counseling Department will host the final Parent Coffee of the year. Join us in the Large High School Conference Room from 8:00-9:00am when we will focus on higher education in Australia, Canada, and the Netherlands.

Grade 12: Senior Parent Transition

The ISB HS Counseling department hosted a session for grade 12 parents about the transitions both seniors and their parents will be experiencing over the next few months. Find a copy of that presentation linked here.

Grade 12: Final Transcripts and IB Results Service for Universities

  1. All grade 12 students who need their IB scores sent to a university should have completed a form sent via their ISB student email account by the IB Office (Khun Arintra and Ms. Canobie). ISB cannot send IB scores to universities as these can only be sent by the IBO. If a student does not complete the form for the IBO Results Service, then they will have to wait until IB results are released in July and will then need to log on to their own account and send the scores to the university themselves. An email was sent in March to Seniors and again this week with directions.
  2. Many universities will also require a final transcript. All grade 12 students need to complete the graduation survey in Naviance AND complete the clearance form given to them the week of April 9. This is due no later than May 22. The survey and clearance form will guarantee that transcripts will be sent by the end of May/first of June to the university they plan to attend.

Grade 12: Applicants to Australia, India, Korea, Japan

Grade 12 students still applying to university should communicate regularly and early with their college counselor on their applications to universities in these countries. A reminder that all documents needed for university applications must be requested through a transcript request form (found in the counseling office) at least 3 weeks before the university deadline.
