Student Leadership Seminar – March 31

Does your child sometimes feel pressured to do things she doesn’t want to do because her friends are doing them?

The March 31 Middle School Student Leadership Seminar will focus on the qualities of assertive leadership. Students will be introduced to and will have the opportunity to practice specific strategies they can use to identify and be assertive in situations that could lead to trouble.

Our NHS high school student volunteers will lead interactive activities designed to help students think through and problem solve realistic scenarios. Please encourage your child to join us for a fun-filled workshop dedicated to acting to avoid trouble.

You can sign your child up here. All participants will receive certificates of participation. Registration for this activity will close on March 28. We will meet in MPB 1 from 9:00-11:00 AM.

If You Know you are Leaving ISB

Families who are leaving ISB at the end of the school year are asked to inform the school as soon as possible using the official Notice of Withdrawal Form. This helps us prepare school records for your child and with planning for next year. Completed forms can be dropped off at the MS Office.

Please help us host MS Choir Students

Middle School Parents,

I am echoing the plea from Mr. Giles for help housing middle school students who are arriving at ISB for the 2018 AMIS Choir Festival. Thank you to so many of you who have already stepped in to house.

ISB will be hosting the 2018 AMIS MS Boys’ and Girls’ Honor Choirs April 4-8, 2018. With 213 students (including 20 from ISB) from 17 schools around the region participating in the conference this year, we still need beds for nearly 100 students.

AMIS conferences and tournaments depend upon the good will and generosity of people like you to host visiting students from other schools. The reciprocal agreement shared throughout the region adds value to our programs, and provides opportunity to develop new friendships, share in culture, and strengthen our connections across international communities.

Things to consider…

  • Host families provide a safe environment for visiting students in compliance with the ISB Hosting Policy
  • Student guests must be hosted in pairs, or more, with no exceptions.
  • Accommodation can be fairly basic and rooms shared.
  • At least one parent/guardian must be present at home for the duration of the convention. Evening supervision is required.
  • Visiting participants will arrive Wednesday, April 4, 2018.
  • All visiting teams will depart on or before Sunday, April 8, 2018.
  • Host families are expected to provide healthy breakfasts and dinners for visiting students.
  • All participants and host students must follow the IASAS Rules and Guidelines set forth by the league and host school.
  • Parents will receive a curfew call from visiting coaches at 9pm every evening to check in with their students.

With appreciation

Dennis Harter
Middle School Principal

It’s getting hot out there – stay hydrated

As we’ve all felt as we step outside these day, it’s getting hot out there!

In addition to frequent breaks and water during PE classes, we are reminding students to stay hydrated throughout the day, not just when they are active and thirsty.

Heat illnesses like exhaustion can have serious safety risk. Hydration is one of the ways to best prevent this. Please help us as we encourage your child to drink 6-8 glasses of water while they are at school with extra water when you are doing outdoor activities such as PE and after school sports. Also, it is really helpful if they are drinking plenty of water at night, so that they come to school well hydrated.

Let’s help keep kids safe during these hot months.

Native Language Survey for Parents—Open Through March 31

As part of ISB’s Strategic Learning Plan (ISB 2025), a group of faculty is considering the role of native languages on our campus. We would deeply appreciate your opinion. Please look for the Native Language Parent Survey in your email (one was sent per family) and take a moment to complete it. It will be open for responses until March 31, 2018. We hope to hear from parents throughout our community, regardless of which languages you speak. Many thanks!

If you have not received this survey or it went to your Spam, kindly email nativelanguage@isb.ac.th
