Course Registration for 2018-19 reminder
This week, grade 6 & 7 students were given their registration forms for course sign-ups for next school year. These forms, along with PowerSchool registration online, are due on Monday, February 26th. (Grade 8’s will receive information about HS course registration soon.)
We shared detailed information about this last week.
Please go through your child’s course selections over the weekend and ensure that s/he turns in the form to the MS Office or in Advisory on Monday.
For more information about Middle School Course offerings, please refer to the MS Program of Studies.
No School for Students – March 1-2
Students will have a long weekend away from school, on March 1-4, as ISB recognizes Makha Bucha day on March 1st and offers an ISB Holiday on March 2nd. ISB teachers will engage in Professional Development on March 1st.
The entire weekend is an Activity Free Weekend with no community or school activities planned. Please enjoy the family time!
IFF Tomorrow, RAIN OR SHINE!
A little rain won’t get in our way, we’ll see you tomorrow! (3.30pm – 7.30pm)
MUCH of IFF is under cover and we’ll work with the weather.
If you’re able, please WALK or BIKE to school – as we all know, parking is limited.
SEE YOU TOMORROW!
Haircuts for Cancer Awareness
The Middle School Student service club Care for Cancer is hosting a cancer haircut event to donate hair for prosthetic pieces and to raise awareness.
They also invite members of the parent community to join students on Wednesday, February 28th, 10:15-11:35 and 2:25-3:30, to donate hair to this cause. Professional hairdressers from Trendy salon in downtown Bangkok, will do the haircuts.
For students interested in participating, we require parent consent. Permission forms can be collected at the MS and HS Offices. Please be on the look out for these from your children, if they might be interested.
Girls Basketball Camp
6th grade girls interested in basketball, athletics or just having fun are welcome to sign up for a free, one day basketball camp on Sunday, March 11 from 10:00 to 2:00. Run by a few varsity team girls, this camp is fun for any skill level and perfect for the upcoming NBBL season. Email Kelly Rutherford (17365@students.isb.ac.th) for any questions or sign up here (24 slots, first come first serve)!
FINAL REMINDER – NBBL Community basketball registration will close Friday.
You can ignore this if you have already registered your child.
We have leagues for boys and girls ages PK through Grade 12. But registration will close on Friday, February 23rd at 4:00pm. so please register now. Once teams are formed, it highly unlikely new players will be permitted to register, so register now to avoid disappointment!
The fee is THB 6,000 for all players (the fee will increase by THB 500 for late registrations). Players do NOT need to be ISB students but all games and practices take place at ISB. This fee will cover costs for a player jersey, Top Flight Academy coaches, referee and scorekeeper fees, ISB fees and photography expenses. Our fee is higher this season as we will use Top Flight Academy to provide coaches for each team. If a parent chooses to coach, their child’s fee will be reduced to THB 3,600.
League assessments will take place on Sunday, February 25th at ISB gyms. See attached for the assessment schedule.
Team practices will begin the week starting March 6th. We will NOT have large clinic practices this year. All teams will practice as a team once per week, most likely on Tuesdays but some practices might take place on Thursdays.
League play will take place on Saturdays (maybe some Friday evenings) and begin on March 17th. Games will continue every Saturday (except for Songkran break) and conclude the weekend of May 18th/19th with league championships.
Payment for the NBBL season can be made at the ISB Community Activity Office (CAO) which is located next to the bookstore at ISB. The CAO is open from 7:00 to 11:00AM and 12:00 to 3:00PM Monday – Friday.
