We hope everyone in our community has had a restful and enjoyable holiday. While our teachers have enjoyed the time, it has been refreshing to see our hallways and classrooms filled again with the smiling faces of our middle school students.

The semester ahead looks to be a great one. Please continue reading the eNews each week to keep up with all of the events and happenings in the middle school!

Upcoming MS PTA Meeting

by Dennis Harter
dennish@isb.ac.th

At the MS PTA meeting on Thursday, January 18th, at 9 AM at MPB 3, the Middle School Admin will present on the topic of Standards Based Grading. Parents who have come from different Assessment and Reporting systems at other schools are encouraged to come and learn more about why and how schools use Standards Based Reporting to provide quality learning feed back to students.

Student Leadership Seminar Sign-up

Has your child ever wondered what to do when he sees a friend teasing another friend? How about when she witnesses mean behavior, but it’s not directed at her?

The January 27 Middle School Student Leadership Seminar will focus on how to be a leader in tricky situations. We will watch hidden camera footage of real teens witnessing mean behavior and will look at effective (and ineffective) ways to respond to real-life tricky situations. Our NHS high school student volunteers will also lead an interactive bystander activity designed to help students think through and problem solve realistic scenarios. Please encourage your child to join us for a fun-filled workshop dedicated to showing leadership with friends…and “frenemies.”

You can sign your child up here. All participants will receive certificates of participation. Registration for this activity will close on January 25. We will meet in ES MPR from 9:00-11:00 AM.

Photos for New Students and Re-takes

Kids Foto will be on campus on Thursday and Friday (Jan 18 & 19) to take school photos for all new students.

If your child was here in first semester then we already have their yearbook photo, however some families may want a new photo taken for themselves or to send to relatives. For this purpose, students may sign up for a re-take session in the Middle School Office on Monday and Tuesday.

Photos will take place on Thursday and Friday when Kids Foto are on campus.
