Over the holiday, our team made modifications to the front gate and parking lot area to improve the flow of traffic, reduce congestion, improve access in, out, and through the parking lot, and to increase safety. We would like you to be aware of these changes before school tomorrow and ask that you please relay this information to persons driving your children to and from school.
Parking area on the east side of the campus, in front of the elementary school
We have added more designated parking to this area and adjusted the angle of the parking slots
Angled Parking Slots
All parking slots are now angled.
“Front facing Parking” is required and backing-in is not permitted.
Traffic Lanes
There are now two clearly marked lanes along the front of the school:
- Left lane – for drop off from Panther to Early Years gate
- Right lane – for through moving traffic
Golf Cart Parking
Golf cart parking outside the elementary school is now clearly defined. These are also angled, front-in parking with room for two carts per slot. Additionally, carts parked in the first row can now pull forward into the through traffic lane, and golf carts no longer need to be pushed in and out to leave.
No Parking Areas
All curbs that are painted red and white indicate no parking areas. Specifically, the curb below the ES bike parking shed where parking is not allowed. These areas need to remain clear to allow all vehicles to move through the parking lot smoothly.
Montri bus parking area
The Montri bus parking area has been clearly defined by a newly created curb and planter box. Access to this lane is on the east side of the lot and makes it imperative that the curb area outside must remain clear to allow the large buses enough turning room.
Clearly defined Crosswalks
All persons MUST use the clearly defined crosswalks when moving through parking lot. For your safety, please do not cross lanes in the parking lot anywhere other than the crosswalks.
Front Gate
A table, benches and umbrella have been set up on the east side of the gate behind the fence. We will be opening the small pedestrian gate on this side to allow people easy access to taxis and other modes of transport. Persons will no longer be permitted to sit, stand, or wait in front of, or around, the front gate guard desk area. The added persons in this area during busy times causes distractions and undue congestion in an already busy area. Taxis will be asked to park to the east side of the main gate and not stop in the middle of the driveway for pick ups.
School Zone
We are working with Nichada to improve the “School Zone” area with additional signage and traffic safety features. We will keep you updated on this progress.
Thank you again for your continued support with improvements of the overall traffic and parking safety efforts. We welcome your comments.
