Deputy Head of School for Learning Announcement for 2018/19

Dear ISB Community,

I am very pleased to announce that the search process for a new Deputy Head of School for Learning has been completed and that Dr. Debi Caskey has been appointed to the position beginning in the 2018/19 school year. International School Services (ISS) facilitated a global search that attracted over 40 applicants with the necessary experience and qualifications. Shortlisted candidates were interviewed & screened and three finalists were invited to ISB for a series of interviews.

Dr. Caskey is currently Assistant Superintendent for the Douglas School District in South Dakota (USA) where she has been since June 2014. Prior to this position, Dr. Caskey has served as the Director of Curriculum/PYP Coordinator at Academia Cotopaxi (Ecuador), the Elementary Principal/Interim Superintendent at the American International School of Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), the Elementary Vice Principal at the American School of Dubai (UAE), and as a teacher in Wyoming (USA).

Dr. Caskey earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education & Special Education at Black Hills State University South Dakota and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from the same university. Dr. Caskey has also completed a Doctorate Degree in Educational Administration from the University of South Dakota.

We are very grateful to all those that took part in the selection process – Leadership Team members, ISB Faculty, an ISB parent interviewing group, and a HS Student interviewing group. The comprehensive and insightful input we received was very valuable.

We also warmly welcome Richard Caskey to the ISB family. Richard is currently the Director of Technology at the Douglas School District in South Dakota (USA). Richard has also worked internationally in Ecuador, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. We look forward very much to welcoming the Caskey family to our ISB community in July 2018.

Our current Deputy Head of School for Learning, Graeme Scott, will be leaving ISB in June 2018 to become the Founding Head of School at Fairgreen International School, Dubai.  We congratulate Graeme on this appointment and thank him wholeheartedly for his very significant and varied contributions to ISB. I have loved working with Graeme and I hold him in the highest regard as a person and an educator. I know all of us will be wishing Graeme, Ali and the children all the very best on their latest adventure.

Sincerely,

Dr. Andrew Davies
Head of School

Nichada Community Central Area Survey Results

Dear ISB and Nichada Community,

Further to our recent survey regarding the main roads of ‘Central Nichada’ potentially becoming public, we would like to provide you with the results and an update.

The survey results (896 respondents) are displayed in the table below:

Question

Disagree/Strongly Disagree

Agree/Strongly Agree

I/We would like to continue with the current management of Central Nichada and for Nichada Thani to go on maintaining the private common roadways and environs as well as providing security and landscape/hardscape services.

13%

80%

I/We would like a different entity (possibly ISB as a last resort) to maintain the private common roadways and environs as well as providing security services. Our assumption is that this option will entail higher common area fees.

31%

45%

I/We would like that ‘Central Nichada’ be open to the public without restriction through the main Nichada gate (near Prasert Islam & Samakee).

86%

10%

The results show that the majority prefer the status quo and is against ‘Central Nichada’ being made public.

Nichada Thani has confirmed through a recent letter sent to residents, that the “central area will remain privately managed by NTG”.

We thank you for your cooperation with the survey and for the helpful comments provided.

Sincerely,

Dr. Andrew Davies
Head of School
