College Counselors
College Applications – This past Monday, Seniors finalized their list of colleges and required ISB documents for universities with deadlines in December and January. As a reminder, please encourage students to regularly check their email (and their SPAM folder) as this will be the primary way most colleges will communicate with students. All required test scores should be sent to universities sooner rather than later. We’d recommend having this testing sent by the end of November just to ensure it arrives in plenty of time. Finally, students should plan ahead and schedule a time for their college counselor to proofread their applications. We’ve found a few errors in some applications, so it’s good to have the applications reviewed before they are submitted. It’s best for students to see their counselor before December 11.
11th Grade PSAT Results – CollegeBoard plans to release 11th grade PSAT results around December 12 and results will be sent directly to students via the email they provided on their registration. For those students who need SAT or ACT testing, we recommend using this report as a way to identify what areas need are strengths and what areas need improvement. Students should consider either the March SAT or the April ACT. The time between now and then can be used to review and prepare for testing.
11th Grade College Planning – On Monday, college counselors will meet during the school day with 11th graders for the 3rd time this semester. Students will learn how to research colleges and universities. They will be given an assignment that focuses on researching universities and creating their high school resume. Parents should look out for an assignment of their own in next week’s Friday HS eNews: The Parent Perspectives questionnaire. These items will be due no later than Monday, January 15. Finally, all 11th graders and their parents should mark their calendars for the official kick off to the college and university search process with Grade 11 College Night which will be held on Wednesday, January 17 at 6:30 PM.

Freedom from Chemical Dependency (FCD) was here this week. We were happy to have a fantastic FCD specialist here who connected with our students, staff, and parents in a positive and informative way. For those of you unable to make it to her session, please feel free to stop by the counseling office or email us if you would like to discuss the visit further.
