Semester December Exams (Gr. 9 & 10 only)
Susan Canobie
susanca@isb.ac.th
Please find detailed information on December Exams and the Schedule HERE and note that individual exam schedules are now available on PowerSchool. Exams are for Grades 9 and 10 only, with Grades 11 and 12 having regular classes. These Exams indicate one point of achievement on a learning continuum. Feedback on these tasks are incredibly useful and the information given to students and teachers informs further learning. They do, however, form a significant part of Semester learning, where students have the opportunity to pull major concepts together.
Students can leave school early (before 2:20pm) after an exam by completing an exam early departure form. This form will be posted on the Parent and Student Portals or hard copies can be obtained from the HS Office. Students will need to have a parent-signed, completed form for each instance they wish to leave campus.
Second Semester Course Choices
Susan Canobie
susanca@isb.ac.th
Second semester is not too far away. Students who are considering changing their course choices for second semester should see their counselor in the next week. This is particularly relevant with choices of Science course in Grades 9 & 10. Please note teachers are available to students to talk about these choices if needed. If students have any questions, please contact their counselor.

College Counselors
College Applications – This past Monday, Seniors finalized their list of colleges and required ISB documents for universities with deadlines in December and January. As a reminder, please encourage students to regularly check their email (and their SPAM folder) as this will be the primary way most colleges will communicate with students. All required test scores should be sent to universities sooner rather than later. We’d recommend having this testing sent by the end of November just to ensure it arrives in plenty of time. Finally, students should plan ahead and schedule a time for their college counselor to proofread their applications. We’ve found a few errors in some applications, so it’s good to have the applications reviewed before they are submitted. It’s best for students to see their counselor before December 11.
11th Grade PSAT Results – CollegeBoard plans to release 11th grade PSAT results around December 12 and results will be sent directly to students via the email they provided on their registration. For those students who need SAT or ACT testing, we recommend using this report as a way to identify what areas need are strengths and what areas need improvement. Students should consider either the March SAT or the April ACT. The time between now and then can be used to review and prepare for testing.
11th Grade College Planning – On Monday, college counselors will meet during the school day with 11th graders for the 3rd time this semester. Students will learn how to research colleges and universities. They will be given an assignment that focuses on researching universities and creating their high school resume. Parents should look out for an assignment of their own in next week’s Friday HS eNews: The Parent Perspectives questionnaire. These items will be due no later than Monday, January 15. Finally, all 11th graders and their parents should mark their calendars for the official kick off to the college and university search process with Grade 11 College Night which will be held on Wednesday, January 17 at 6:30 PM.

Anthony Giles
anghonyg@isb.ac.th
On Friday 1st December at 3:00pm in the HS Drama Room, the IB Theatre Students will be performing their Solo Theatre Pieces to a select audience. These pieces are individual performances, each one 4-8 minutes in length, which have been devised based upon the in-depth study of the theory of a well known theatre practitioner. The students involved are Jeannie MacRae, Oscar Zaffar-Giles, Grace Armstrong and Spencer Wile, who have created work based upon the theory of Robert LePage, Stanislavski, Grotowski and Steven Berkoff respectively. These pieces are part of their IB exam, and require audience feedback to gauge whether their performance intentions have been met. If you would like to be a part of this exclusive audience, please contact either the IB students involved, or Augusta Harison-Denby and you will have a place reserved.
