College Applications – Over 50% of the Senior class have already submitted at least one application to Canada, Hong Kong, Thailand, the UK and/or the US. That number will continue to increase in the coming weeks before December break. Any student with an application deadline in December or January must notify the counseling office (with a blue transcript request form) by this Monday, NOVEMBER 20!
Juniors – On November 27, College Counselors will meet during the school day with 11th graders for the 3rd time this semester. Students will learn how to research colleges and universities. They will be given an assignment that focuses on researching universities and creating their high school resume. Parents should look out for an assignment of their own: The Parent Perspectives questionnaire. These items will be due no later than Monday, January 15. Finally, all 11th graders and their parents should mark their calendars for the official kick off to the college and university application process with Grade 11 College Night which will be held on Wednesday, January 17 at 6:30 PM.

Next week, Freedom from Chemical Dependency (FCD) will be on campus, November 20-23, meeting with students. FCD is a non-profit organization that provides alcohol, tobacco, and other drug education to schools world-wide. FCD prevention specialists will present the most up-to-date information available on the physiological and psychological effects of various drugs, and provide a forum for discussing social, cultural, and personal issues that relate to the choices students make.
In addition, the FCD prevention specialist will host a parent meeting in MPB1 on Wednesday, November 22 from 9-10:30am. We hope you can make it.
