College Counselors

College Parent Coffee – The next monthly parent coffee will focus on standardized testing and will be held Monday, November 13 from 8-9 in MPB 1. All high school parents are welcome to attend.

Juniors – Today, 11th graders had to turn in their personal mission statement. This is an important start to their college application process. The mission statement is a great way to introduce themselves to their college counselor and will serve as the catalyst for conducting university research. This mission statement will be the beginning of the resumes they will start creating. College Counselors will meet with 11th graders for the 3rd time this semester on November 27 to talk about HOW to research universities.

College Applications – This week was a very busy one in the counseling office with students finalizing their early applications. 50% of the Senior class have already submitted at least one application to Canada, Thailand, the UK and/or the US. Any student with an application deadline in December or January must notify the counseling office (with a blue transcript request form) by NOVEMBER 20!

UK and Australian Universities @ ISB – Just a special note to let parents know we are excited to host a number of UK and Australian universities the week of November 6. Please be sure to see the exact dates and times at the university visit link below.

School Counselor:

We hope your family enjoyed the October break!  Welcome back.

The week of November 20, Freedom from Chemical Dependency (FCD) will be on campus meeting with students. FCD is a non-profit organization that provides alcohol, tobacco, and other drug education to schools world-wide. FCD prevention specialists will present the most up-to-date information available on the physiological and psychological effects of various drugs, and provide a forum for discussing social, cultural, and personal issues that relate to the choices students make.

In addition, the FCD prevention specialist will lead a parent meeting in MPB 1 on Wednesday, November 22 from 9-10:30am.  We hope you can make it.
