Message from Kelly Armitage, Sarah Fleming and Keith Collins
We are deeply grateful for a wonderful year of learning, care, laughing and growing. We are a close learning community, and this year we have come together in many ways to support one another, challenge ourselves, and make a difference. We appreciate your support and wish you all a wonderful summer filled with family, friends, time outdoors, good books, and lots of laughter. If you are leaving ISB and off to new adventures, we want to thank you for being a part of our ISB family and wish you the very best as you transition to your next “home.” Please stay in touch!
Friday June 9th 11:30 am Student Dismissal
All students will be dismissed at 11:30 am on Friday, June 9.
Crazy Hair Day
On the last day of school, June 9th, the elementary school will have CRAZY HAIR DAY! Get your crazy on! Please ensure that all crazy hair prep happens at home – students may not bring hair spray, hair colors, gels etc. to school. Thanks for your support with this fun day.
Student Class Placement and Grades 2-5 “Meet Your Teacher”
Class Placement for the 2017-2018 school year will be sent via e-news and posted in grade level quads at 2pm on Friday, Aug. 11th. Students may visit their new classrooms and homeroom teacher for “meet the teacher” from 2:00-3:00 on the 11th. This time will be a chance to say a quick hello and find the location of your child’s homeroom classroom (not specialists). The purpose of this time is to see a face and a place to start school, not to conference with the teacher or to receive information. You will receive information about the school year later in the week and at our Elementary Open House on Aug 31. Also, please realize that teachers continue to work on setting up the classrooms throughout this afternoon and we’ve encouraged them to end promptly at 3:00pm.
Please note: PreK, KG and Grade 1 students will be meeting teachers during appointments on Wednesday August 16 and Thursday August 17.

NaNoWriMo Celebration & Book Launch
On Monday 29th May, parents, teachers and students came together to celebrate the elementary school’s newly published authors. This journey began back in November when around 150 students chose to take on the NaNoWriMo challenge. Many students then decided to embark on the additional challenge of publishing their novel. After six months of writing, editing, revising, formatting, and designing, we were able to see the results of all that hard work and effort. Read more…

Note: One of the student novels – Gone with the Wood by Diego Ghosh – went missing after the celebration. We think someone may have taken it home by mistake. If you were at the celebration, please check, and drop it off to the Hub if you have it. Thanks.

(Repeat) The ES Music Shares Are Back! Starting end of May
At the end of the year, ES Music will host a “Music Share,” a time for students to perform music, drama, or dance and share with an audience of parents and their peers. Students are invited to perform a 2-3 minute piece that they have prepared outside of music class to share with their peers. Parents are welcome to join us for this event, which will be held in the music room 4-115. The schedule and sign-up form for this year’s Music Share can be found here.
(Repeat) If You Know you are Leaving ISB
Families who are leaving ISB at the end of the school year are asked to inform the school as soon as possible using the official Notice of Withdrawal Form. This helps us prepare school records for your child and with planning for next year. Completed forms can be dropped off at the ES Office.
