For Parents of Our 8th Graders
Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s) of Grade 8 Students:
You are invited to join us in the Chevron Theater on Thursday, June 8th at 8:00 AM to commemorate your child’s move from middle school to high school, with our Grade 8 Moving OnCeremony.
This transition is a significant step in their lives, and we hope to celebrate this moment together with you through a student-led ceremony, lasting approximately one hour and thirty minutes. Immediately following the ceremony will be a reception in the MPB until approximately 10:30 AM. This is an important day for your child and your family. We hope all family plan to attend both the ceremony and the .
Since this is a special celebration, we ask that students dress appropriately to suit the occasion.
- Boys should wear dress pants, a dress shirt, a tie, and dress shoes. Suits and/or jackets are not necessary.
- Girls should wear a dress, or shirt/blouse with a skirt/nice pants, and nice shoes. Please ensure that the heels that are not too high, as students need to climb up and down the stairs to the stage.
- To be respectful of our multi-cultural environment and the nature of the event, shoulders should be covered and clothing should be of modest length. Jeans, shorts, sleeveless shirts,, tuxedos, or formal dresses are not appropriate (either too casual or too formal).
After the reception the students will continue their celebration with a lunch with their classmates in our cafeteria, followed by time to celebrate their time together in Middle School. They will need a change of clothes for after the reception so that they can be comfortable as they spend the remainder of the day together. They do not have to wear school uniform.
Please put this important date on your calendar. All family members are invited to attend the ceremony and reception for the students.
We will also be live streaming the event, so please be on the lookout for the web address to send to family members who cannot attend the event in person.

Summer School at ISB – Less than two weeks to go…

Registration for summer school is going well and Summer School 2017 will begin on Monday, June 12th!
If you are only around the first couple weeks of our summer break, reminder, we do have three special enrichment camps available:
ES/MS Computer Science For All – “Arduinos, Drones, and Robots – More Than Just Fun” class on June 12 – 23
ES/MS Panther Musical Theater class on June 12 – 16 (this year’s production will be Wicked – The Untold Story of The Witches of Oz)
ES/MS Science and Technology class on June 12 – 16

Repeat Announcement: Middle School Choirs Concert
The Middle School Choirs with special guest musicians, artists and actors present an evening of music on the theme of Cultivating Peace. Join us as we explore struggles, hopes, self-realization, taking action, celebrating our world, coming together and creating peace in our world. Admission is free and doors open at 18:15 for a 18:30 start time. We hope to see you there!
Repeat Announcement: Middle School Orchestra Concert
Fasten your seat belts and hold on….IT’S ORCHESTRA TIME! The MS Panther Orchestras are performing for the last time this year! Each orchestra will show the audience their best “stuff” and then they will all combine at the end for a dramatic finish. Come and watch! Audience members are allowed to toss giant bundles of flowers on stage at the conclusion of the performance…or just cheer…we like cheering, too.
