HS Office Renovations
Andy Vaughan
andyv@isb.ac.th
Over the summer break there will be a complete renovation of the High School Office. The preparation work for this renovation will begin from today as the front of the HS Office begins to move into it’s temporary location.
Please be aware of the following adjustments in locations for the HS office:
- From Monday 22 May, the HS front office will be relocated to the literary lounge in the library (the first room on your left in the library).
- From Tuesday 23 May, HS counsellors will be relocated to the MPB 3 and the Registrar will be working from the Wilde room on the top floor in the library.
- Please note that when arranging an appointment with a HS Administrator or Counsellor that is private, sensitive or confidential in nature, please indicate this when setting the appointment so we can arrange this to be in an appropriate private space.
- From 29 May the old HS Office area will cordoned off to all members of the community as the contractors begin the internal demolition and begin the re-construction phase.
This is obviously a challenging finish to the year with our staff being relocated, however we know this will allow us to start in the new location at the beginning of August.
Drivers Licenses and Summer Holidays
Andy Vaughan
andyv@isb.ac.th
For families considering allowing their child to drive a motorbike or golf cart to school, only students with a valid driver’s license may drive/park a car on campus. The details of what is needed based on age and what you are driving can be found in this application form.
It is advisable for students to work on their license in the Summer Break so that they can legally drive to school and gain access to campus.
Golf carts must be operated safely and be affixed with a parking pass valid for the year of use. Stickers will be available at the start of the school year.
HS Prom
Andy Vaughan
andyv@isb.ac.th
Tomorrow night we will celebrate the end of the year with the High School Prom hosted at the Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit, 2 Soi 57, Sukhumvit Road from 7 to 10 pm.
As students purchased tickets, they signed the Prom contract, which can be found at this link. This outlines the Dance Policies as outlined in the ISB High School Student Handout (page 39).
Here are a few reminders for the evening if your child is attending:
- Formal Attire is required.
- Students must arrive by 8pm, if there is a situation with traffic, please call an administrator to inform us.
- Once students leave the dance, they are not permitted to rejoin.
- There is no transport provided to and from this event. ISB Staff will remain in the hotel lobby until all students have departed.
- The High School Administrative team and a team of chaperone Teachers will be supervising the event.
We are looking forward to Saturday night!

News from HS Counseling
Kevin Davy

Grade 9
Final exams will arrive before we know it. There will be some in class review but most teachers will also offer additional study / review sessions after school. It is important that students try and take advantage of these opportunities, please encourage them to do so. We also have a learning hub that our students can drop into at any time of the year. Teachers and learning support specialists staff this.
Mr. Davy had shared some resources with students this week in regards to exam preparation and addressing potential anxiety, here is one of the documents:
https://www.ets.org/s/praxis/pdf/reducing_test_anxiety.pdf
Here is also a recent short article shared that reframes ways to look at anxiety leading into an event or exam: http://www.gozen.com/transforming-test-anxiety-with-a-mindset-shift/
Students are also reminded that if they are interested in ISB summer school that they register as soon as possible. We have applications in our office, which require specific signatures, please have your son or daughter pick one up. Grade 10
As we come down the home stretch toward the end of the semester, is your son or daughter well-organized for final exams? If you can sit down with them and have them explain to you how they’ve organized their material and how they will study for exams, it can give you a good sense of whether or not they know how to prepare. The better prepared they are, the less stress they will feel about their approaching exams. Any time you or they have questions; don’t hesitate to contact their counselor!
Grade 11
These last few weeks can be quite stressful as students manage end of year assignments, assessments and as many students plan for SAT/ACT tests. Many classes will start final exam review soon. Parents should help students find balance in what can be a hectic time ensuring they get plenty of rest and downtime to stay recharged through June 9! Help your student reflect on what has gone well this year and where they’ve met success. This will help students identify what is important to them as they prepare for life after ISB.
11th graders took a self-assessment related to their college planning and identified their personal “to do” list for now through July. Ask them about it! We discussed summer visits to colleges, the need to find balance in Senior year with enjoying what is the final year at home for most students, and making a plan for testing, recommendations, and essay writing. Students have access to resources on Haiku to get them starting to think about how to write for the US and UK.
Grade 12
Congratulations to Seniors as they wrapped up exams today!!!!
Senior Transition Day is Wednesday, June 7 from 7:30-2:00!!! This is a mandatory day for all Seniors.
Japan, Korea, India, New Zealand, and Australia applicants – Students should speak with their counselor and plan accordingly especially if deadlines are beyond graduation. There are forms with the registrar in order to request documents. Please plan ahead.

Annual Medical Screening For Students Entering Grade 11
Sally Plomley
sallyp@isb.ac.th
Students entering Grade 11 will need an ECG as part of their annual medical screening.
Bumrungrad Nichada Clinic will have an ECG machine available from May 8-20 so students entering Grade 11 can have their medical screening done there between those dates. When the examination is done the ECG tracing will need to be sent to the hospital for a cardiologist to review it. The report will be available for collection 1-2 days after the examination. If there are any abnormalities the student will need to be reviewed by a cardiologist.
The examination can also been done at World Medical Center, Samitivej Hospital, Bumrungrad Hospital or any other hospital/doctors surgery with ECG facilities.

Annual Medical Screening For Students
Sally Plomley
sallyp@isb.ac.th
It is the time of year when we need to start the medical screening process for ALL students.
We have modified the screening process so there is a basic medical screen for most students with a more extensive screen for students entering Grades 3, 6, 9 and 11 which includes a tuberculosis screen. Any student who has had a new student medical examination after January 2017 will not need a repeat examination. All students must fill in the Nurse Medication Consent form.
