Grade 9
Final exams will arrive before we know it. There will be some in class review but most teachers will also offer additional study / review sessions after school. It is important that students try and take advantage of these opportunities, please encourage them to do so. We also have a learning hub that our students can drop into at any time of the year. Teachers and learning support specialists staff this.
Grade 10
As we come down the home stretch toward the end of the semester, is your son/daughter well organized for final exams? If you can sit down with them and have them explain to you how they’ve organized their material and how they will study for exams, it can give you a good sense of whether or not they know how to prepare.
The better prepared they are, the less stress they will feel about their approaching exams. Any time you or they have questions, don’t hesitate to contact their counselor for assistance.
Grade 1These last few weeks can be quite stressful as students manage end of year assignments, assessments and as many students plan for SAT/ACT tests. Many classes will start final exam review soon. Parents should help students find balance in what can be a hectic time ensuring they get plenty of rest and downtime to stay recharged through June 9! Help your student reflect on what has gone well this year and where they’ve met success. This will help students identify what is important to them as they prepare for life after ISB.
11th graders took a self-assessment related to their college planning and identified their personal “to do” list for now through July. Ask them about it! We discussed summer visits to colleges, the need to find balance in Senior year with enjoying what is the final year at home for most students, and making a plan for testing, recommendations, and essay writing. Students have access to resources on Haiku to get them starting to think about how to write for the US and UK.
Grade 12
Senior Transition Day – As IB exams are coming to a close at the end of next week, it’s almost time to focus on transitioning beyond high school. On Wednesday, June 7 from 7:30-2:00 all seniors are required to participate in Senior Transition Day. The day will consist of a presentation by Graeme Scott,
Senior Brunch, and Graduation Rehearsal.
In addition, Seniors were given their Leaver’s Form a few weeks ago and will need to turn them in by Friday, May 19th. School records will not be released if the form is not completed and submitted to their counselor. Laptops are also due by this date.
Japan, Korea, India, New Zealand, and Australia Applicants – Students applying to these countries met with counselors a few weeks ago to begin planning for upcoming applications. Students and parents should speak with their counselor and plan accordingly especially if deadlines are beyond graduation.
