HS Uniforms
Andy Vaughan
andyv@isb.ac.th
Recently there has been an increase of students wearing out of uniform clothing. Constant reminders to students of our uniform policy as this is not good use of teacher or administrator time, hence we are asking for parents to assist in ensuring your child is in the correct uniform.
The HS ISB school uniform requirements from the Student Handbook can be found at this link.
As a reminder for students, here are some key points:
- Shirts must be either the blue or white ISB polo shirt. Team/Class/Club shirts are not allowed if they are short sleeved. Where a team shirt is long sleeved, it is an ISB approved team shirt.
- Sweatshirts/Hoodies must be ISB Booster or Team tops. They must be of the correct colour. Other IASAS (TAS, SAS etc…), Club or College tops are not ISB Dress Code.
- Pants must be either the beige or black school pants. They should not be PE shorts or other sports shorts.
Many thanks for your support on this matter.

Grade 9
During this past week, our 9th graders signed up for courses for next school year. We hope the students and families took the time to review, plan, and discuss options. These options are not set in stone though. If there is a change of direction in regards to thoughts surrounding a student’s choices, they should contact Mr. Davy.
We are starting to see fatigue kick in at this time of year with some of our students. This can be due to efforts put forth towards school, an extra notch on the heat index, and a number of different factors. It is important at these times to maintain a “healthy engine”, concentrating on good sleep, exercise, and nutrition. Please keep promoting this.
Grade 10
Course selections have been made for 11th grade and now Ms. Canobie (with the help of the computer) is putting together a master schedule. Hopefully students will get the exact program that they hope for, but there are always slight adjustments that need to be done for a best-fit for everyone involved. Those fine-tunings will take place later in the year, so no need to worry or second-guess your selections at this point.
Interested in an internship this summer? ISB offers a Summer Internship Program as part of its Summer School Program. The program runs the first two weeks after regular school ends (June 12-22), and students also do pre-internship seminars in interview skills and resume-writing, with a day of wrap-up and reflection back at school at the conclusion of the internship. If you are interested in the program for your son or daughter, have them stop by the High School office in the Counseling area and pick up a form (no obligation) from Khun Mai or Mr. Callahan.
Grade 11
It’s been great meeting with parents and students for Junior Conferences. Students have been leading these and thoughtful conversations and plans are taking place for our students as they look to life after graduation. If your student hasn’t scheduled one, they should see Khun Jan in the HS Counseling Office as soon as possible. The goal is to have these finished in the next 2 weeks.
ISB Counselors recommend that non-Native English speakers plan to take the TOEFL or IELTS over the summer. Also, any student applying to the US should have sat at least one ACT or SAT prior to the summer holiday. As a reminder, ISB is a closed/unlisted testing center for both SAT and ACT. Students should see their counselor for more information on a testing plan appropriate for your student’s needs and for registration
Grade 12
Mark your calendars: On Thursday, April 27 at 8:30am all grade 12 parents are invited to the Grade 12 Parent Transition meeting. Counselors will discuss the transition process to support parents as Grade 12 students move on to university, gap years, etc.
Senior Transition Day is Wednesday, June 7 for all Seniors. Students will have a full day of events as they prepare to graduate high school and head off to new adventures. More details will be shared after Songkran.
As university results begin to come in for students in the US, Canada, UK, etc., we ask that students notify their counselor of the admission decisions. We also encourage students to thank their teachers and counselor who put in a lot of time supporting students with recommendations.

World Scholar’s Cup Bangkok Round 2017
Selena Gallagher
selenag@isb.ac.th
Last weekend saw the Bangkok Round of the World Scholar’s Cup where ISB was admirably represented by 41 dedicated middle school students and six high school students. Over two action-packed days, the students, in teams of three, argued passionately over three rounds of debate, wrote a persuasive essay, completed a rigorous six-subject exam, and raced the clock to compete in a multimedia quiz bowl with electronic clickers.
