This past week has been a truly fun experience with our students and teachers out in Thailand for our experiential Class Trips. All the teachers and students returned today, tired, but smiling and recounting the fun experiences they had.
Like anything in the real world, new situations arose that required students to be flexible and resourceful. Students had to navigate feeling uncomfortable at times, demonstrate independence, and develop social skills with their roommates, activity groups, and classmates. These experiential situations, away from their parents, but within the safe oversight of their teachers, provides students with important growth in adaptability, social intelligence, and independence – all identified as essential attributes for future success.
We know it can be difficult for parents to “let go” of their children for these 3 or 4 days, but the growth for students is powerful and important. Young people need this time to develop in the ways that will help them be successful.
Thank you, parents, for your trust in us to look after your child and to help your child learn through some new experiences. A special thank you to our terrific teachers who took on this responsibility with smiles and attentiveness.
A well deserved rest with the long weekend. We will see them back on Wednesday!
