MS Olympics a huge success

On Thursday, the MS PE department hosted our full day of Middle School Olympics. This year, hosted by Oceania, we were treated to a wonderful Opening Ceremony complete with flag bearers, a gymnastics show, the Olympic oath, a traditional Haka performed, and of course the ceremonial lighting of the torch.
The students participated in culture games, team games, tug-o-war, and Track & Field events. Throughout, we saw wonderful camaraderie, good sportsmanship, and students giving their best effort. Several MS Olympic records were even broken on the day!
A few photos are shown here, but we have uploaded and will continue to add photos to our online MS Olympics Flickr album as well.
A Tremendous Achievement

Day in and day out, our middle school students make us proud as they develop and grow in their interests, talents, and as young adolescents. We appreciate every one of them for their uniqueness and personalities.
Every now and then, however, we have an opportunity to share extraordinary achievement by our students. A few weeks ago, grade 6 student Yuiko Akashi participated in a National Flute Competition in Japan. After having qualified at the regional level, Yuiko was selected to the national finals. Already an impressive feat accomplished, Yuiko went on to win that competition. This is incredible recognition considering the intensity of competition and quality of the flutists.
We were treated to Yuiko’s performance at our final assembly of the semester. Yuiko performed beautifully and received a standing ovation from her peers. Her hard work, dedication, and talent blew us away.
Congratulations to Yuiko for this wonderful achievement. Panther Proud!
Happy Holidays to All in our ISB Family

What a semester it’s been! On behalf of our Middle School teachers, counselors, staff, and administration, we wish everyone a wonderful holiday break. Hanukkah and Christmas at this time of year – like so many important holidays from cultures around the world – are a time of family, reflection, and peace. Often, holidays can be so stressful as we shop, cook, travel, or host, that we forget the joy we feel to be amongst our loved ones. We hope your holidays provide you with that joy, along with peace and rest going into the new year.
2016 has had its ups and downs as a year, but through it all our faculty and students have had wonderful experience learning and growing. We have had lots of celebrations in the past few weeks with music performances, the MS Olympics, and assemblies recognizing our students. As we send off 2016, we celebrate all of our learners in our terrific middle school student body.
From all of us, Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year!
See you in 2017!
