Monday, December 12, 2016—School in Session

After School Safety Concern

If students are using “The Big Toy” after school, it is important that they use it safely.  We have received reports that students have been jumping from the Big Toy.  As you know, families must provide supervision for students to play on The Big Toy after school.  Please make sure students are not jumping from the equipment, or using the equipment in a way that is not intended.  We ask that you discuss this information with nannies to ensure they are also aware of these important safety concerns.

Come Join the ES Festival of Lights on Wednesday Evening!

The ES Festival of Lights Concert is December 14 at 6:30 pm in the Chevron Theater. This festive performance includes the ES Panther Choir, Orff Ensemble and Orchestra. The concert will explore celebrations from around the world that make use of lights in their traditions. We hope to see you there!

ES Musical: Mandatory Full-Cast Meeting, December 12th

Please mark your calendars for a mandatory all-cast meeting onMonday, December 12th from 2:35-3:35 in the ES MPR. On this day we will read-through/sing-through the show and take measurements for costumes. It’s very important we get your measurements this day so the tailor can make your costumes over break! Buses for downtown students will be provided after the read-through (at 3:50 pm).

Gymnastics Registration For Semester 2 Opening Today

For those interested by gymnastics, registration is opening this Friday, December 9th. The classes start the first week of school in January. The ISB Panther Gymnastics is open for all ISB students, from Pre-K to High School, boys and girls. We welcome beginners as well as experienced gymnasts. Our program is based on the Australian Gymnastics System (https://www.gymnastics.org.au). Our coaches are experienced gymnasts and passionate about their sport. Several of them have competed for the Thai National Team and have worked with kids from international schools for many years.

Our mission is to bring out the gymnast in our members and transfer our passion for gymnastics to each of them. We are a community club. Some will want to compete when possible and some just wish to learn gymnastics for recreational purposes and we strive to accommodate each individual goal with their practice.

The groups are divided by Grade and Level of gymnastics.

For KG to Grade 2 students at the Beginner level, we have one hour class on Monday, Tuesday, Friday starting at 2:35. Each class is composed of maximum 34 gymnasts. So if you are interested, register now.

For Grade 1 students and up with prior experience in gymnastics, we have 2 hours classes Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (different time). Again 34 gymnasts maximum.

For Grade 2 and up, we have recreational Gymnastics (open to all) on Friday 2 hours as well as on Saturday morning for two hours.

(Repeat) Love and Logic Parenting Book Discussion Group

Facilitated by ES Counselors, Ellen Thomas and Kate Kersey, Wednesday Mornings from Dec. 14th – Feb. 15th.

If you want to raise kids who are self-confident, motivated, and ready for the real world, take advantage of the Love & Logic win-win approach to parenting.  Your kids will win because they’ll learn responsibility and the logic of life by solving their own problems.  You’ll win because you’ll establish healthy control—without resorting to anger, threats, nagging, or exhausting power struggles! We will meet once a week for 7 weeks, starting Dec 14, and the discussion group will end on Feb 15. The group is limited to 35 parents on a first-come first-serve basis and registration closes on Nov 28. The discussions will be held from 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. in the ES MPR. Click this link to register.  You can also purchase the book through ISB for 900 Thai Baht, or you can purchase the book on your own.
