With Heavy Hearts…

We were deeply saddened by the passing of the Honorable King Bhumibol Adulyadej.  Our hearts are with the wonderful people of Thailand during this time of grief. The world has lost a most beloved, revered, and respected leader.  If you or your child needs support, please reach out to one of our counselors, Kate Kersey katek@isb.ac.th, Ellen Thomas ellent@isb.ac.th, or Doug Williamson douglasw@isb.ac.th .

International Day – Friday, November 18

International Day is a ‘hands-on’ learning day to celebrate ISB’s rich intercultural diversity. Many of our ES classrooms are ‘transformed’ by parents into country themed rooms so that our students can celebrate different cultures, food, dress, language, music, and geography throughout the day.

A few details for parents:

  • On International Day, students are welcome to dress representing their home country.
  • Students are invited to wear international t-shirts instead of their uniform or P.E. uniform in the week leading up to International Day.
  • International Day begins with an Assembly. Parents are welcome to join the Assembly, as we are gathering in Rajendra Hall and have space. Parents will need to be seated by 7:45AM SHARP – so that the Assembly can begin on time.

International Day Host Country Volunteers Needed!
We still need a few more volunteers to host country rooms!  It only takes a few hours of your time on this very special day.  Please contact Abbie Boudreaux and Katie Edsall at escoord@isb.ac.th to volunteer!  Thank you!

Leaving ISB at the End of the First Semester?

Parents of students who are not returning to ISB after Semester 1 need to notify the ES Office, K. Tina (tinaratr@isb.ac.th) as soon as possible and fill out the Notice of Withdrawal from ISB Form to enable us to process school records for their next school.  Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

New Campus Access Guidelines: starting Saturday October 22nd

By: Mark Hevland, Head of Risk Management
markh@isb.ac.th

In an effort to maintain the unique open campus feel of ISB, along with improving the overall safeguarding of students, employees, parents and property, we are implementing the following guidelines regarding access to the campus:

Campus Use and Access:

  • The campus will be open to the community from 6.40am to 8.00pm each day.
  • During the weekends, once inside the main gate, there will be one entrance to the school. This will be the main entrance next to the central administration office. All other access points will be closed.
  • Adults must present ID to enter campus at all times.
  • Access times will be adjusted for events that run before and after normal opening hours. For events that run past 8:00 pm, the campus closing time will be adjusted to 30 minutes after the scheduled end of the event.
  • For students who need to traverse the campus to get to and from Nichada and Sarawan Village, they will continue to be allowed access, with student ID, up to 9:30 pm.
  • All buildings on campus will be secured at 6:00 pm (or immediately after the event concludes) and access will only be granted to those personnel assigned to the space. Buildings will be opened at 5:00 am on schools days for ISB staff access. No student or parent will be allowed to access classrooms, offices, or other teaching spaces without the assigned staff member present.

Supervision:

  • Any Elementary and Middle school student on campus outside of regular school hours, who is not participating in a school supported event, must be supervised by an adult. For Middle School students this time begins at 3:50pm. High School students are provided more flexibility and are allowed on campus without an adult. Please refer to the division handbooks more specifics guidelines.
  • Elementary students are supervised by ISB staff from 7:00am – 2:20pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and 7:00 am – 2:05 pm on Tuesdays.

Should you have any concerns about campus access, please contact me at markh@isb.ac.th.

(Repeat) NaNoWriMo and Parent Workshop

If your child is participating in NaNoWriMo this year, please consider coming along to our ‘NaNoWriMo for Parents Workshop’ in the ES MPR on 20th October from 7:45 to 8:45am. This will be an opportunity to ask questions, familiarise yourself with the NaNoWriMo experience, and learn how to best support your child at home throughout this project. For more information, click here.

(Repeat) After School Supervision

Please ensure you know where your child is each afternoon and that maids and nannies understand the ISB policy around supervision after school.  ES students MAY NOT be on campus after school unless supervised by an adult in charge, appointed by the family. Thank you for your cooperation.
