Dear ISB Community,
It is with the utmost sadness that we learned of the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great this afternoon. His Majesty is highly revered in Thailand and the world over for his commitment to Thailand and the Thai people, to a better world, to the arts and sciences, to education, and to those less fortunate. His Majesty’s passing is deeply felt by us all. The world has lost a most beloved, revered and respected leader.
Out of respect for His Majesty, the Royal Family, and the Thai people, ISB will be closed tomorrow (Friday 14th October). We will be in touch again as soon as we learn more from the Royal Thai Government.
ISB has provided a number of condolences books in the Chevron Theater for those that would like to write messages and pay respect to His Majesty. These books will later be delivered to the Royal Household Bureau. The Chevron Theater is also available for those that would like to pray or to use as a place for quiet reflection from 9:00am to 12:00pm tomorrow (Friday). Please wear black or dark clothes.
We know that many of our students, our faculty and staff, and our parents will be deeply saddened by His Majesty’s passing. Please know that all ISB administrators, counselors, and psychologists are available should anyone in our community need support. Please find contact details below.
Advice for people to take care of themselves and their friends at this difficult time is linked here. Parents who are concerned about their children’s reactions are encouraged to contact their child’s counselor or school psychologist.
Please note that students should not be on campus during this time of mourning (with the exception of the Chevron Theater tomorrow) until further notice. All school and CAO related activities are cancelled for Friday and for this weekend.
