MS PTA Meeting Oct 13
All MS Parents are welcome to join our Oct PTA Meeting next week. Besides a brief of Principal’s Forum, we will have MS Councillors to hold a session of ‘Keeping Our Kids Safe’ to share tips for keeping our child safe during play dates (or hanging out), sleepovers, going out with friends, and ‘unsupervised time’.

MS Principal Forum
MS Principal forum is coming. What is it? Why do we need your input?
The Principal forum is an anonymous channel of communication between parents and the Middle School Administration. Parents sent to the MS coordinators any general issues (concerns, questions, ideas, suggestions,etc) concerning Middle School. Then the tow MS Coordinators, together with a pre-selected group of parents will discuss this issues and give a report to the MS Administration.
On November 8th at 9:00 The MS Administration will answer each one of the issues that the community had.

MS Halloween Oct 14, Decoration & Bake Food Please !!!
Halloween is approaching ! PTA Halloween Social is one of the big event of the year. We would need parent volunteers to support in,
* setting up the decoration and pulling them down.
set up time 12:00- 2:00pm, and
pull down time 5:00pm – 6:00pm
* sending some baked foods such as small lots of cookies and cup cakes. Just a reminder that all foods should be nuts free.
We hope to gain your support as your involvement is important to our event.

International Day Celebrations!!!
International Day will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016. We have had lots of amazing parent volunteers sign up to host a country room, but we still need more! Please if you are volunteering or want to volunteer to help that day, come to our next ES PTA Meeting on October 13th at 9 am in the ES MPR. The main purpose of this meeting is to discuss International Day! Remember if you are not volunteering to help that day, you are not allowed to stay in the Elementary School after the assembly. Don’t miss your opportunity to be a part of this wonderful day! Please come to the meeting on October 13th, but if you cannot attend, send us an email.

Welcome Dr. Tracey Tokuhama-Espinosa to ISB.
On Wednesday 12th October and Thursday 13th October we welcome Dr. Tracey Tokuhama-Espinosa to ISB. Tracey is an expert in the fields of mother tongue education, the future of learning and educational neuroscience. She is currently an educational researcher affiliated with FLACSO in Quito, Ecuador and teaches a course at the Harvard University Extension School entitled ‘The Neuroscience of Learning and Achievement: An Introduction to Mind, Brain, and Education Science.’ She has taught Kindergarten through University and is the former Dean of Education at the Universidad de las Américas in Quito, Ecuador and ex-Director of the Institute for Teaching and Learning (IDEA) in the Universidad San Francisco de Quito.
During her time here, Tracey will offer two sessions for parents. From 1:00 – 2:00 on Wednesday 12th October, she will offer a session for parents on, ‘How to Support your Child in 21st Century Education.’ This session will be in the MPB. On Thursday 13th October, Tracey will present a 45 minute session on ‘Mother Tongue Education’ which will focus on what parents can do at home to support their child’s mother tongue. This will also be in the MPB.
Please consider joining us and Tracey – she is a fascinating and engaging speaker with a wealth of experience to share.

Spirit Tent Open on Saturday October 8!
Come cheer on the ISB HS volleyball teams and the MS tennis players!
Also, come listen to the beautiful voices of MS and HS students from ISB and other schools at the Bangkok International Choral Festival in the Chevron Theater at 2pm. You won’t be disappointed!
This Saturday, October 8th ISB is hosting the BISAC Varsity Volleyball Cup and the BISAC U13 Boys Tennis Tournament. The Spirit Tent will be open selling drinks, baking, candy, etc. Please help if you can by signing up on the link for a shift or bringing some baked goods.

SAT/ACT Prep Workshop at ISB!
Do you have a child who is preparing to take either the SAT or the ACT in the upcoming months? If so, you may be interested in registering for The Princeton Review’s SAT/ ACT prep workshop. This is an entirely optional resource for students looking to enroll in a SAT or ACT prep workshop in the ISB campus from a reputable organisation.
When: November 20, 21, 27, 28, and December 4 (dates subject to change). Time: TBA.
Where: Reading, Writing and Math: ISB campus.
Science (if requested): Princeton Review’s Sathorn campus.
Who is it for: While this course is open to all ISB high school students, it is recommended that only students who are preparing to take the SAT/ ACT in the upcoming months register.
How it works: This workshop will be divided into two sections.
The first section will be offered at an ISB classroom and will cover reading, writing, and math skills (common for both SAT and ACT). The instruction time for this section is a total of 18 hours. The cost of this first section is THB 24,500/ students. All classroom materials will be provided. Once students have completed the first section, they will be offered to take an indicator i-Test, which is designed to identify whether a particular student will do better on the SAT or the ACT. There is no additional cost for this indicator test.
The second section of this workshop will cover only science and will be offered to students who would like to take the ACT. Please note that the science section (typically one 2- 3 hour session) of the workshop may only be taken at the Princeton Review’s Sathorn campus at an additional fee. Interested students/ parents should contact Princeton review directly to arrange such workshop.
