ES Parent Teacher Conferences Oct. 6-7, 2016

We are very much looking forward to seeing you at Parent Conferences. Please be reminded that there is no school for students on these days. However, if your child is in Grades 2-5, we encourage you to bring him/her to the conference. Students do not need to wear a uniform on this day.  All students are welcome to attend the Book Fair in the ES library HUB and the ESMPR where supervision will be provided.

In your child’s bag on Monday, September 26, you will find additional information about conferences for your child, as well as instructions on how to register with our online conference scheduler, “Pick A Time”.  This information can also be accessed via PowerSchool today.  Once you have logged on to PowerSchool click on the “Parent Conference” button on the left to see the letter.  If you have more than one child in the ES you will need to switch between students to access a letter specific to your child’s grade.

Pick A Time will open on Tuesday, Sept 27 at 8:00 AM and will close Tuesday, October 4 at 2:00 PM.

Should you wish to speak with any of our counselors — Kate Kersey (Pre-K, K and Gr. 1), Ellen Thomas (Gr. 2-3) or Doug Williamson (Gr. 4-5), please know they will be available in their offices or you can make an appointment in advance.

(Repeat) Bangkok International Strings Festival

new-strings-poster-pdfISB is once again hosting the sixth annual Bangkok International Strings Festival this September 23-24!  Soon, 75 high school orchestra students from international schools in Bangkok and Phuket will be coming together at ISB for 2 days of excellent music.  The students get to work with a very accomplished guest conductor who will be flying to Bangkok from Minnesota, USA for the occasion.

The guest conductor, Mary Sorlie, was awarded the 2011 Minnesota String Orchestra Teachers Association’s Master Teacher Award.  Ms. Sorlie is a frequent guest conductor and string clinician in the Midwest and is a member of WolfGang, a sextet which performs music of the 18th century. She resides in St. Paul, Minnesota with her husband Chuck and wonder dog, Lacie.

The festival orchestra will be performing a varied concert program, including works by Percy Fletcher, Antoinin Dvorak, and 20th century composer Norman Dello Joio.

This is going to be a great experience for Bangkok-area high school strings musicians and an excellent performance!  Join us for the festival’s final concert at ISB’s Cultural Center Theater at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 24.  Hope to see you there!

(Repeat) After School Supervision

Please ensure you know where your child is each afternoon and that maids and nannies understand the ISB policy around supervision after school.  ES students MAY NOT be on campus after school unless supervised by an adult in charge, appointed by the family. Thank you for your cooperation.

(Repeat) Elementary School International Day Volunteers Needed

ES International Day is set for Friday, 18 November, 2016.  This is a fun filled day for the elementary school when parents turn the classrooms into various countries represented here at ISB.  Students learn the history, heritage, and culture, of these countries through playing games, creating beautiful artwork, tasting new foods, and learning new languages.  This special day of learning only happens because of parent volunteers.  If you would like to be a part of the ES International Day team, please contact Abbie Boudreaux and Katie Edsall escoord@isb.ac.th
