ES Parent Conferences – October 6 and 7
We are looking forward to sharing your child’s learning progress in our upcoming Parent/Teacher conferences. For grades 2-5 only, students are invited to attend the conference with you. Your child’s teacher will be in touch with how this will look, but keep in mind that this structure is not a student-led conference, but rather a chance for students to informally discuss how their learning has progressed in the first several weeks of school. Students in grades PK-1 will not be involved in the Parent/Teacher conference. All students are welcome to attend the Book Fair in the ES library HUB and the ESMPR where supervision will be provided.
Soon, we will be communicating how to schedule a time for conferences with both homeroom and specialists. This process happens online.

Bangkok International Strings Festival
ISB is once again hosting the sixth annual Bangkok International Strings Festival this September 23-24! Soon, 75 high school orchestra students from international schools in Bangkok and Phuket will be coming together at ISB for 2 days of excellent music. The students get to work with a very accomplished guest conductor who will be flying to Bangkok from Minnesota, USA for the occasion.
The guest conductor, Mary Sorlie, was awarded the 2011 Minnesota String Orchestra Teachers Association’s Master Teacher Award. Ms. Sorlie is a frequent guest conductor and string clinician in the Midwest and is a member of WolfGang, a sextet which performs music of the 18th century. She resides in St. Paul, Minnesota with her husband Chuck and wonder dog, Lacie.
The festival orchestra will be performing a varied concert program, including works by Percy Fletcher, Antoinin Dvorak, and 20th century composer Norman Dello Joio.
This is going to be a great experience for Bangkok-area high school strings musicians and an excellent performance! Join us for the festival’s final concert at ISB’s Cultural Center Theater at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 24. Hope to see you there!

(Repeat) ES Art: Call for Supplies!
Elementary Art is in need of a large variety of recyclable cardboard and plastic construction supplies. If you have any around the house please donate them into the large wooden crate located in front of the ES office. We would prefer nothing bigger than a shoe box. Examples include small boxes, cardboard tubes, bottle caps, plastic caps/lids , clear yogurt cups, cardboard egg cartons etc… Thanks in advance for all donations.
(Repeat) September 21 Peace Day
Peace Day events are held around the world on September 21 each year to honor those who have worked to end conflict and promote peace, and to celebrate a commitment to peace within ourselves, our families, our community, and our world. Our school will come together for an assembly (for students only), which promises to be very special. On the 21st, all students and faculty are invited to wear white.
(Repeat) After School Supervision
Please ensure you know where your child is each afternoon and that maids and nannies understand ISB policy around supervision after school. For safety’s sake, ES students MAY NOT be on campus after school unless supervised by an adult in charge, appointed by the family. Thank you for your cooperation.
(Repeat) Elementary School International Day Volunteers Needed
ES International Day is set for Friday, 18 November, 2016. This is a fun filled day for the elementary school when parents turn the classrooms into various countries represented here at ISB. Students learn the history, heritage, and culture, of these countries through playing games, creating beautiful artwork, tasting new foods, and learning new languages. This special day of learning only happens because of parent volunteers. If you would like to be a part of the ES International Day team, please contact your country rep or ES PTA reps: Abbie Boudreaux abbiebphotography@gmail.com and Katie Edsall kdedsall@yahoo.com
