Parent Education Workshop – elementary school

Thursday Sept. 8, 2016 at 7:45 am (MPB 1)

Introduction to Math, Literacy and Technology

The Elementary School Learning Coaches cordially invite elementary parents to attend a Parent Workshop on Thursday, September 8th.  This is a great opportunity for new parents and returning parents who would like a refresher.

Be ready to experience how your child engages with math, literacy and technology at ISB.

  • Math: Be a mathematician for the morning by problem solving and growing your brain.
  • Literacy:  Your son or daughter is a writer and you will be, too.  On this day, learn about the reading and writing workshop model and engage in the writing process, just like they do!
  • Technology:  We know our kids are a whiz at technology, but do they still need guidance in how to leverage it for learning? The answer is yes! Come use the technology your child(ren) are using. Nobody will be embarrassed, we promise.

Please join us on Thursday, September 8th at 7:45 a.m. in the Multi Purpose Building (MPB 1).

Processing of ISB ID cards and Vehicle Parking Passes

In continuing towards our focus on student safeguarding and overall campus safety, we are announcing a small change related to the processing of ISB ID cards and vehicle parking passes.

All requests and processing of new, lost, and replacement cards for students, staff and parents, will be handled by the security team.

Vehicle parking passes, which were previously handled by the transportation office, have also been moved to the security team.

All of the necessary equipment is being moved Thursday and Friday of this week to the Safety & Security team office.  Our new location is next to the Chevron theatre in the modular container.  This is also the new home of the lost and found.

Starting Monday, September 5th, the office will be staffed from 7:00 am – 3:30 pm.

If you have any questions please contact Khun Ratthavit, at 02-963-5800 Ext 7730.

September 21 Peace Day

Peace Day events are held around the world on September 21 each year to honor those who have worked to end conflict and promote peace, and to celebrate a commitment to peace within ourselves, our families, our community, and our world.  Our school will come together for a student Assembly, which promises to be very special.  On the 21st, all students and faculty are invited to wear white.

After School Supervision

Please ensure you know where your child is each afternoon and that maids and nannies understand ISB policy around supervision after school.  For safety’s sake, ES students MAY NOT be on campus after school unless supervised by an adult in charge, appointed by the family. Thank you for your cooperation.

ISB is a Nut-free Campus

As stated on p. 37 of the Parent Student Handbook, ISB is a nut-free campus. We have many students at our school with serious nut allergies. In order to keep them safe, we do not allow any kind of nuts on our campus at any time. This includes the snacks and lunches that you might send to school with your child. Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our children safe.

(Repeat) Daily Student Arrival Time – 7:00

This year ES students should arrive on campus between 7:00 – 7:30 am.  The first bell rings at 7:35 and students should be in classrooms by 7:40.  If students arrive after 7:45 they need to stop by the ES Office to pick up a late slip.  ES students should not arrive to ISB before 7:00 am.

(Repeat) Classroom Teacher Blogs

All parents have been automatically subscribed to classroom teachers’ blogs this year.  If you are not receiving notifications of posts by email, please check your spam folder and also ensure that your email contacts are up to date in Powerschool.  (see directions for updatinghere).  Please email help@isb.ac.th if you are not receiving these notifications.

(Repeat) Elementary School International Day Volunteers Needed

ES International Day is set for Friday, 18 November, 2016.  This is a fun filled day for the elementary school when parents turn the classrooms into various countries represented here at ISB.  Students learn the history, heritage, and culture, of these countries through playing games, creating beautiful artwork, tasting new foods, and learning new languages.  This special day of learning only happens because of parent volunteers.  If you would like to be a part of the ES International Day team, please contact your country rep or ES PTA reps: Abbie Boudreaux abbiebphotography@gmail.com  and Katie Edsall kdedsall@yahoo.com

(Repeat) A New Musical Opportunity for Grades 3, 4 and 5 Students

The ES music department is piloting the first ever ISB ES Orff Ensemble this fall! In accordance with the approach of music educator and composer Carl Orff, students will be challenged in a fun, playful environment, and will experience and create music through playing, singing and movement. The Orff Ensemble is open to a maximum of 25 students, and will take place on Mondays and Thursdays starting on September 19th. The season will culminate with performances at International Day and Festival of Lights. You can register for this through ES Explore after Sept. 2. Please click here for more information.
