All Grades –

Did you know the HS Counseling Office has a:

  • …new library of resources for you: books on SAT/ACT practice, transition, general parenting, college, careers, and wellbeing. Stop by and check out a book from the counseling secretaries.
  • …blog on various topics related to college admissions? Bookmark this site and read more.

Grade 12
Mark your calendars on Thursday, April 28, 8:30am. All grade 12 parents are invited to the Grade 12 Parent Transition meeting. Counselors will discuss the transition process to support parents as Grade 12 students plan move onto to university, gap years, etc.

Senior Transition Day is Monday, May 28 for all Seniors. Students will have a full day of events as they prepare to graduate high school and head off to new adventures. More details will be shared after Songkran.

As university results begin to come in for students in the US, Canada, UK, etc., students need to notify their counselors of the admission decision. We also encourage students to thank the teachers and counselors who put in a lot of time supporting students with recommendations.

This can be an anxious time for students with decisions arriving and preparing for exams. If you student faces an admission denial, it’s important to stress to that an admission denial is rarely a reflection of the student. Visit our December blog post on this very topic: “What your college applications don’t tell you.” One university put it best recently sharing, “…please keep in mind that we had to make fine distinctions among many exceptional candidates. In some school groups, it is possible for applicants with similar academic profiles to receive very different admission decisions. Our decisions are a reflection of the quality and size of the applicant pool within the context of the university’s enrollment goals.”

Grade 11
As students register for courses this week, they should see their counselor if they have questions about courses. Also, if students haven’t done so, they should meet with their counselor to review their credits needed for graduation.

Colleges and universities are beginning their spring visits to ISB and students and parents are encouraged to meet with representatives.

Enjoy the long weekend!

Grade 10
Have your son or daughter see their counselor if they have questions about registration for next year’s classes.  All the counselors are available to answer questions about course selection.  Have a restful day off Monday!

Grade 9
Recently, Grade 9 students met with one of the 10-12 counselors to discuss course options for next school year. Course registration opened on March 16 and will be open till the end of the day, Tuesday, March 22. Students register for their courses through PowerSchool.

Please note that the counselor whom the student met with is not necessarily their counselor for next year.

IASAS SOFTBALL HOSTS NEEDED: REGISTER TO HOST – IASAS SOFTBALL
ISB will host the 33rd IASAS Softball Tournament, April 7-11, and we need help from our community. We are short of hosts and homes for the visiting athletes. ISB is famous for its hospitality and tournaments, and this is a great way to meet like-minded student-athletes from across Asia and support our program. Please follow the link below to register to host visiting softball athletes during IASAS, April 7-11. We appreciate your support!

CONGRATULATIONS ISB PANTHERS!
The Season Three Varsity teams enjoyed their first taste of international competition last weekend at the IASAS Exchanges. ISB hosted a fantastic show of Badminton, with top-level team and individual matches. Even the coaches got into it, putting on a spectacular display. The softball teams traveled to Singapore where both the boys and girls teams won four games while only dropping one. It promises to be an exciting and competitive final IASAS at ISB, April 7-9. The track & field team headed to Jakarta and produced strong showings, highlighted by Sabrina Kwenda winning the 100m final and Grace O’Connell breaking the ISB school record in discus with a throw of 28.08m. Congratulations, Panthers!
