Adolescent Development
Adolescence is one of the most vibrant stages of development in a person’s life. The cognitive, physical, and social changes that happen at this period are immense and can be intense. The link below is a very nice overview of what to expect in this stage of development. Whether this is your 1st or 5th teen moving through high school this resource from Johns Hopkins University is worth a look:

Grade 9

Mr. Davy and our two interns Ms. Brelsford and Ms. Perkins have started meeting with students individually to review first semester progress. Conversations have been insightful, honest, and reflective on the student’s part.

Next week Grade 9 students will meet with one of the 10-12 counselors to discuss course options for next school year. Course registration will open up on March 16.

Grade 10

The semester is in full swing and students are taking care of their obligations.  Sometimes, with things moving quickly around here, priorities get moved around.  Don’t forget to have a supportive conversation with your son or daughter about their classes for next year, as registration will be opening in less than two weeks.  And be sure and attend the Parent-Teacher Conferences on Friday, March 11th.  Stop and check in with your student’s counselor!

Grade 11

Colleges and universities are beginning their spring visits and students are encouraged to meet with representatives. Also, if a student needs to take certain standardized tests such as the ACT, SAT, SAT Subject Tests, TOEFL, IELTS etc. The student should discuss his/her timetable for taking these tests with his/her counselor and register.
